The thing is some folks want to shoot and even though prices are out of whack sometimes there are few choices. I hate the gouging that's going on, although it seems to be tailing off, if you just gotta have the ammo then there's not a lot of choices right now. I was prepared for this but some were not and I feel for those who have to pay these outlandish prices. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully this shortage and gouging will end soon and we can all go back to a more normal ammo supply and price.

Whatever ammo you can get and a good price is better than what the gougers are charging. The choices aren't great so take what you can.

I really feel for the guys who are just starting. It's all well and good to say people should have stocked up but I've run into a couple of people who just bought their first .22 and they're hurting. Or they just started competing and their one year supply became a one month supply. Or I sold a case of .22 to a guy who was running some kind of boy scout event and he wanted to lock in the supply while it was still possible to get a whole case at once. He was smart to do it too - this was early on and the price went up another 50% at least before peak.

Unfortunately I got in right in the middle of this mess so whatever I find, I buy. So far, the online deals are better than what the LGS charges and its in stock.

Midway also has subsonic Winchester 42 grain Max bricks for $52.99. It appears to be new to the states so Im going to try it out.

I tried the non-subsonic version. Same price. It was between this or maybe buying another brick of the Aguilla SS, so I tried the 42 MAX. When I shoot it I will post.

I just received my two boxes of Winchester 555 and one 50 round box of Federal Gold Medal match from Cabela's... it takes a while to get here.

Since I use these for hunting, and I need to have lead free while in the condor zone, .16 per round is inconsequential. (I carry a single six while hunting pigs in case I find rabbits.)

Honestly, I wish people would NOT think that $50/500 is a good price and just let it sit on the shelves until retailers realize that we want our $20/500 ammo back. But as long as people buy it, the retailers are going to keep the price high (which is fair). But at $50/500, that means flippers will keep snapping up the $30/500 deals and reselling for $40.

But hey, that's capitalism for you. You want it? Pay for it.

I am all for $20 bricks of .22 lr coming back, don't get me wrong. The fact is I want to shoot, and if it means I either pay $50 or don't shoot, I'll pay $50.

Natchez is charging $16.74 for shipping to Sacramento for 1 box of .22lr, it says it is 0.3lbs. Now I know it isn't that expensive to ship that much weight

I picked up a few more boxes of the "Colt" Russian sourced 168 grain .308. They had it for $10 a box, but now it is $11 (I have my ammo can full, now I need a few to shoot). You can't search for these so check out the Shooting and Security Sale from the main page.

They have lots of .223 Match ammo and 7.62x39 right now.
