Lead Free is STILL UP at Cabela's if anybody's interested

Like the Fed MATCH, it's too rich for my blood. But if you want to go bust some Bunny's in the California Condor's range it could come in handy

What's with you guys in Cali and lead? Is it for hunting only, or plinking and indoor ranges too?

Edit: I understand not wanting to use it for meat, but it's not like you're going to be eating a crow or a target.
My stack's so deep, yo' mommas kids kids will have ammo to shoot!

      GunBot notifications for .22 ammo.

The sort of working, sort of not working, lists of Walmarts that have ammo in stock. 1. Ammo-Can 2. BrassBadger

You say that like we have any choice in the matter.
IT IS ILLEGAL to hunt with Ammunition containing lead in the California Condor's range. The premise was if you wound an animal and the Condor eats it, the Condor has issues. I think the "anti's" realized they can't stop hunting but they are trying to make it as difficult as possible. I haven't stayed up on all of it, I just don't hunt anymore AND don't buy a California hunting license...All of BS just takes the enjoyment out of it.

As I recall, I think the full lead ban isnt required for another 4 years or so at the discretion of Ca.DFG.
Brown was pretty sympmathetic and realistic in the comments he made on the bill when he signed it ,even though he did sign it.

Every law that affects the shooting sports in a way we don't like isn't automatically "BS." Lead poisoning is a huge problem for the condor population, and once they're gone, you can't get them back. It's hard to prove that the lead comes from hunting bullets, but for sure it's not doing the condors any good. Check this page: http://www.azgfd.gov/w_c/california_condor_lead.shtml The law is in effect for basically the same reason that lead shot is banned for waterfowl hunting in many states.

At the risk of taking this further off topic,
It is extremely questionable as to whether pure California Condors even exist any more due to the introduction of other non-native Condors to California to boost the population.
I'm done, back to ammo, wahts up at C? (besides Condor freindly ammo)

Nothing at the big c, except the hippy ammo.
I remembered I never got my free sample of allegra with my m22's when I opened the box yesterday. Kind of bummed about that.

I think the leaded/unleaded question is on topic, as it does relate to what we can shoot, and ultimately what we can purchase here.

But if the aim is really 'wildlife protection' why are the environmentalists not going after solar arrays?

Environmentalists have hit out the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System in the Mojave Desert, the world's largest solar plant of its kind, for scorching birds which fly over it.

Why do say they're not going after the solar arrays? Did you read the first sentence?

"Environmentalists have hit out at a giant new solar farm in the Mojave Desert as mounting evidence reveals birds flying through the extremely hot 'thermal flux' surrounding the towers are being scorched."

I live near one in Las Vegas that recently started up. There's also several more in the area under construction. Fortunately there are few birds around, but I can see that there could be a problem.

Aren't these mostly solar absorbing panels??

Okay, back to ammo. Nothing up at C's except the lead free.

Yes I did but the reality is all of the 'green' energy is getting a pass on wildlife destruction, from the solar arrays cooking birds, to the wind farm 'bird guillotines' chopping bald eagles into stew meat.

The media can portray all of the do-gooder hankie-wringing as progress for the cause, but the net effect is still restrictions on ammo and not less wildlife harm. Read the whole article, the payoff is way below the pretty pictures:

Ivanpah (solar array complex) can be seen as a success story and a cautionary tale, highlighting the inevitable trade-offs between the need for cleaner power and the loss of fragile, open land. The California Energy Commission concluded that while the solar plant would impose 'significant impacts on the environment ... the benefits the project would provide override those impacts.'

<edit> ...and yes I realize I am way off topic now. No mas.

I don't want to do harm to anything...that I'm not going to eat I'm not saying the ban is BS... I don't know. I looked into a pig hunt at Hunter Ligate and was amazed... It's the TOTALITY of regulation.

                                ....so anybody find ammo?

I did get ship a notification on a FF Can from a WHILE ago!
