Slickguns often posts Cabelas deals in weird formats and the ammo shows up via their link and not if you go directly to the page. Cabelas is just like that and always has been. None of the techniques we've been using are secret or originate from calguns which is part of why the newbies feeling so possessive is so hilarious.

Why would you even buy that unless you're doing a biathlon? It's specialized ammo hence the cost.

Has this type of shortage ever happened with .22lr ammo before? I got my first .22 in November of 2012...bad timing I guess. Luckily I got a brick when I purchased the gun which lasted me a little while.

Its happened several times before. Most recently in 2008 when Obama was first elected. That shortage lasted almost a year.

I don't remember 22lr being scarce at all. .380 was the tight cartridge along with premium handgun rounds. I was a "gouger" back then and would buy $5k worth of premium handgun cases at the AZ gun shows and sell smaller quantities on Gunbroker for 2-3x. Made a nice extra income that summer.

This current run has been going on 1.5 years now...

Don't exaggerate. It's only been 1.4 years. I think this one is different in several ways. The one in 2008 was caused mainly by a shortage of raw materials as the government had large orders in and the rimfire caliber runs where not going 24/7 like they are now. People quote large ammo orders by the government now but they are small in comparison. This shortage the lines are running 24/7 but the demand is much higher.

So its a demand shortage this time compared to a supply shortage in 2008.
