      mdib870,

My basic suggestion to your would be to give the bearing surfaces a little drop of oil and the sear area use graphite grease and just go shooting. With usage things should lighten up a bit and you'll begin to get a better feel of the trigger.

On my 10/22 I've gotten great groupings using minimal mods and constant shooting from the bench. I've only installed a nice bull barrel and a better stock and scope. I never changed any parts of the trigger group at all.

In addition I also have a Remington 597 that also has a nice bull barrel and stock and due to the triggers simple mechanism I just use either oil or graphite grease just under the sear and over time it developed it's own trigger job.

If your thinking about installing custom trigger parts to lighten up the trigger pull I don't think you need to spend the money. Just use my simple technique and I think you'll be satisfied.

I had one for years, sold it for various reasons, now I just bought a Takedown.

After a few spare mags and shooting I'm going to get the Volquartsen hammer. I suggest going that route for $40 instead of risking borking up your internals.

I've been reading up on 10/22 trigger upgrades. KIDD two stage seems to be overwhelming considered the best. But at just shy of $300, it's definitely pricey! They have some other nice upgrades as well. I've got my eye on the trigger for a future upgrade.

If you can't afford a Kidd trigger on every 10/22 you own, don't buy one.
As soon as you buy one, you will want them for every gun you own.

If you don't mind sending away your trigger group for a couple of weeks, Brimstone does a great job. Even their cheapie $35 "basic" job makes a world of difference.

+1000 on the Volquartsen target hammer. Seriously. It makes an enormous difference and it only costs $40.

I got the KIDD trigger 'job' kit... $105 on the site. A World of difference. I don't have experience with the other kits so I can't compare them.

Its better than parts cause they hone/smooth everything. Safer than doing it yourself and cheap. Rimfirecentral.com members put Brimstonegunsmithing.com as a high recommendation for trigger jobs.

I have the $35 one, tier 3 and it made a night/day difference on my 10/22. Go for it, I have a 2lb trigger now without the grit and inconsistent pull.
