i enjoy my bsa sweet 22. works just fine for me just plinking around. decent scope for the price. the grain calibrated turrets for bdc have been dead-on for my usage.

I have a Nikon prostaff Rimfire fixed 4x32 with a wiegand integramount on my ruger 10/22. The optics are very good and the price is reasonable. I easily can see and hit a 3" spinner at 100+yds. I am very happy with the Nikon product.

any suggestions on a high rise mount/ring for a dovetail that doesn't walk? i plan to combine it with a cheek pad to make up the extra height to get a good cheek weld

I went to an Appleseed shoot with my Marlin 795 and Tech Sights. The TS gave very fast target aquisition and I was really consistent with them. I could group well on the larger appleseed targets, but honestly I couldn't even see the small targets (like a triangle made of 3 quarters). My old eyes lost the target when I focused on the front sight. So on the way home I bought a Barska Plinker-22 3-9 at Big 5 because .. they were open at that time and that was the scope that fit the dovetail of the Marlin.

It helped a lot at first, but, having never used a scope ever before, I had some "eye relief problems" and the scope walked on me a bit so at the end of the day I was grouping OK, but also shooting 2 inches high. That's because at some point, I just unscrewed the mount and shoved it as far forward as I could to get proper eye relief without scrunching my neck back.

I didn't even know that I could push the eye relief forward (or whatever) by dialing down the magnification. Total scope newbie, but I learned alot in a hurry!

As far as I can tell, it's a decent scope with simple duplex crosshairs. It was also just $50. Considering the rifle was about $130 in the first place, that seemed enough for a .22 training rifle.

I'm keeping my tech sights to teach my kids to shoot irons when they are old enough, with this 795.

The good thing about scopes is, even if you buy an expensive, overkill scope for your .22, you can always move it to another rifle later I guess.

I have been thinking about the same thing also and started looking for the nikon prostaff 3-9x40.

I see some on ebay, but there seem to be several models. One of them I can't find any info on is the 6320.

which model works for the .22 if mor specific the 10/22

I just picked up the UTI single piece air rifle mount (medium height) for my Plinker-22 scope (32 mm objective lens) and it fits nicely. The mount looks a lot more solid than the rings that came with the Plinker-22. The original mounts had a single row of screws for the rings, the UTI thing has two rows (ie 4 screws per ring) and also the long mount uses 3 screws. Much more sturdy SEEMING than the little rings that the Plinker-22 had, even though "includes rings" was a selling point for me for that scope (as mentioned, I was desperate for a scope to quickly mount for the Appleseed shoot second day).

I also picked up a Bushnell laser sighter (like $30) to semi-zero it at home and finally got to the indoor range (Reeds) on Thursday. The scope works pretty good now...ready for the next Appleseed!

                  Nikon P-22

Made specifically for the 22lr cartridge. I bought it from Brownells for $166 and I am very happy with it.

I went with a Vortex Crossfire II, 3x-9x 40mm objective. I have not zeroed the scope yet, but the optics are super clear.

I'm quite happy with a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 Rimfire BDC 150; been using it for about a year. Now I'm deciding between Prostaff 4x32 and P-22 2-7x32 for my other rifle.

Another option is to put a picatinney rail and quick detach (Q/D) rings so when you want to use the tech sights you can easily remove the scope, and reattach it in the same spot quickly. A good quality rail and ring system will allow you to remain accurate after re-installing the scope. Picatinney rails are better for eliminating scope creep problems that some dovetails have. it costs a bit more, but when the zombie squirrels are attacking and your scope has failed, you will be glad you did it....
