I personally like the Nikon Prostaff line. But on my kids AR22 we have the Nikon P223. Its a fixed 3x power but sufficient for a rimfire. I like it as it is compact. All Prostaff line are very good scopes in the 150.00 range. The redfield Revolutions are decent too, in the price range.
The P223 was 150.00 with a 30.00 Mail in Rebate.

A/O is used to dial out parallax errors at all distances and you only need it for fine target shooting. If you're hunting rabbits or plinking or not using match ammo the possibility of being off 1/8-1/4" isn't going to make much difference. The other advantage is that you can focus closer - at the cost of having to stop and focus. Few fixed focus scopes are in focus closer than 20-25yrds. Some (not all) scopes with adjustable objectives will focus down to 10yrds.
If you really need a BDC in the $150 range I'd look at the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40. Just keep in mind that a BDC isn't target accurate. They just get you close enough to put meat on the table and you'll need take some test shots at different ranges to see how the marks compare with where the rounds actually land."Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else." --FREDERIC BASTIAT--

thats exactly what i need! i read somewhere that there's some software for the nikon prostaff bdc scope where you enter all your data, and it will give you a pretty good estimate of what each circle will really represent. do you or anyone else know where i can find this?A/O is used to dial out parallax errors at all distances and you only need it for fine target shooting. Don't use see-through rings. They put the scope up so high that you'll be lucky to get a chin-weld much less a cheek-weld.Last edited by sholling; 09-21-2012, 11:41 PM."Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else." --FREDERIC BASTIAT--
