I want to get the DIP Charging Handle, though not sure what design yet. Black for sure. I think straight line looks the best, but I wish I could feel them in my hand. Those are installed by just slipping in the new handle where the old one was in the notch on the receiver, no?

I am actually watching FogCityTactical's videos now on the trigger job. I've never done ANY gun smithing and am limited on tools, a little afraid to mess with it, though the results I've heard are FANTASTIC!

Any pics of yours or your GF's build?

I want to look into different stocks sometime too, need to check out what Boyd has.

Oh and Big 5 in central california area (I'm in Manteca) get's deliveries on Saturdays. I called Saturday morning when they first opened and got 2 additional 10rd mags (all they had). I plan to get up to 4 or 5 eventually.
My charging handle is plain black, was looking for some lines in it to increase grippy-ness but even smooth, it's a great upgrade. My advice on the FogCityTactical vids: if you're unsure, order replacement springs of each (or two) and then you have back-ups. Shouldn't be more than about $12+shipping. I did that when I put in the DIP Trigger.

That's a good idea. How would you guys rate the difficulty of the modifications in FogCityTactical?

I hate living with the 10rd mag law..... I wonder if these mags were made before 2000....
Doesn't matter when they were built. You had to possess them before 1/1/2000; it's not like NY's laws where if you buy mags that were manufactured before the ban but can use them after the 'ban' came into effect. Example: NY has a AWB, but I can go to a gun store today and buy a 30rd mag produced before the ban date and take it to the range and use it no problem as the mag was 'pre-ban'. CA requires possession before the 1/1/2000 mark no matter the mag production date.

Also, the Marlin 10rd mags seem to work the best; ProMag and (I think) Butler Creek have a spotty reputation with the 795 from what I've read. The one 25rd mag, Butler Creek one I think, that's available at Academy Sports seems to be hated by all...

Ah okay, good tip. It looked decent compared to the cheap plastic ones EVERYONE hates.

I personally haven't seen them, but they're well-rated and people seem to like them. Take your time, make sure you have everything you need (spares included), and don't be afraid to post here as ask.

Yeah, CA also includes rimfire mags as well, with the only exception being tube-fed rimfires like the Marlin 60. I just don't want anyone to lose their rights over stupid BS laws; we need everyone we've got in this fight and can't lose members of the 2A community over the politico's stupid laws and thereby further their goals.

EDIT: Also stick to Marlin 10rd mags for this reason too- If you keep the synthetic black stock, the butt is hollow and can hold 5 or 6 mags in it. Granted, I changed mine to the Marlin wood stock, but the mags in the stock helped balance the rifle and add some heft to it.

The sling stud is what attaches to the swivel (and that is what the sling clips to) and is a fairly universal part.

Thanks man! Means a lot coming from the guy that helped me when I first got my 795. I was looking at the DIP charging handles but ended up with a Rimfire Tactical (Think they're related or branched off from one or the other) and the drop in/clip-in design is great. Along with with the OEM sight and DIP trigger/triggerguard kit, the charging handle completes 795 upgrade trifecta (though I do like upgraded stocks). Your 795s look great! I tried to keep mine OEM+ and am wondering how I even considered selling it after shooting it last time .

Of course man, now you are an expert as well!
Yea pretty much any swivle brand will work well. Mine happen to be Uncle Mikes. They where cheap in stock and had both black and silver so it worked for our 2 795's.

I HATED the look of the OEM Bolt Handle it urked me, it just looks ugly imo.

I believe Rimfire Tactical made parts for DIP at first. But then they had a falling out and DIP either makes their own now or has a different machine shop make them. The RT handles are slightly different then the DIP ones if you look at the end of them, RT has like a rollpin or something that holds the handle to the body I am guessing. Newer DIP ones don't have that.

Nope they are like a month old. And I see Boost all ready mentioned the legality.
I plan on getting a couple when I go out to Texas in a couple months while I am out there for use out of state.
Reports are that the Promag 795 actually work unlike the shooters ridge/ champion ones.
Though Promag doesn't have a great reputation for their clone magazines.
These being their own design seem to actually be well made

Allways good to have spare springs on hand! I have 2 recoil springs incase I bend one putting it back in. I should stock up on the other springs too.

Maybe you could put some O-rings on yours. No idea if they would stay put. That is part of the reason I got the straight groove one was if I wanted I could put O-rings in the grooves, but I have not tried it yet.

I need to pick up one of the OEM rear sights just in case I ever take the scope off my 795. Doubt I will but who knows how many of those older style sights they have left.

You have a great looking rifle! Glad you got one of the OEM stocks while they lasted! OEM+ is a perfect description for your rifle! hah

Really easy. Hard part is taking the action apart. Which really is not that hard. Just look at ArrowDoggers guide that is linked on the first page. Remeber to capture the hammer spring before you take it apart!

Bending the springs is super easy. Helpful to have 2 pairs of jewelers pliers or needle nose at least.

Thanks for your appreciation of the thread, I love these rifles and strive to know everything about them so I thought I would share all I have learned. Personally I use a UTG scope with UTG mount. Lots of people hate on them but mine has been prefect. It is very clear, holds its zero and I feel was an excellent value.

New to rfiles, haha. Can you tell?

By the way, what should I be looking for in regards to a stock accessory like that to hold extra magazines?

EDIT: My god, look at this? Not bad, or way overpriced because its easy enough to do yourself?

I have the UTG 3-9x 50mm R/G Illuminated A/O Scope its a bit more then 50 bucks but it comes with a sun shade and lens caps.

You can see my rifle and parts in the first post.

Those grips/bipods "gripod" usually attach to picatiny rails. So you would have to attach a rail to the bottom of your rifle. Which could be done easily. Just have to get a rail and drill some holes and mount it

That is the MCARBO spring kit.
It is listed on the front page of this guide under the parts section.
I have never used one and while I believe that they may be made of superior metals as they claim I can not advocate spending 30 bucks on what amounts to 2-4 bucks worth of springs.
Hell I don't even run trigger return springs in my rifles as they are redundant!
But yes, you can do this for free just by tweaking your springs as the FOGCITY video on the front page describes.

So I've read when I first get a rifle, I should clean it before firing.

Now, of cours I know how to clean a rifle in the normal maintenance, but as far as new rifles what should I do?

I'd just strip it into its main parts.
                                Receiver/barrel
Action (don't need to take it apart unless you are changing parts or tweaking springs)
                                Stock
                                Trigger group

Just clean the action and inside of the Receiver/barrel real good and very lightly oil it.
