It's really not that hard to take the action apart. If you where down here I would offer to take it apart and tweak it for you.

Watch the videos and look at ArrowDoggers take down guide enough and anyone could do it.
IMO everyone should at least once completely strip all of their firearms to know how they work and if they ever need to replace a part the have a basic idea.

Yea pretty much any swivle brand will work well. Mine happen to be Uncle Mikes. They where cheap in stock and had both black and silver so it worked for our 2 795's.
I HATED the look of the OEM Bolt Handle it urked me, it just looks ugly imo.
I believe Rimfire Tactical made parts for DIP at first. But then they had a falling out and DIP either makes their own now or has a different machine shop make them. The RT handles are slightly different then the DIP ones if you look at the end of them, RT has like a rollpin or something that holds the handle to the body I am guessing. Newer DIP ones don't have that.
Nope they are like a month old. And I see Boost all ready mentioned the legality.
I plan on getting a couple when I go out to Texas in a couple months while I am out there for use out of state.
Reports are that the Promag 795 actually work unlike the shooters ridge/ champion ones.
Though Promag doesn't have a great reputation for their clone magazines.
These being their own design seem to actually be well made
Allways good to have spare springs on hand! I have 2 recoil springs incase I bend one putting it back in. I should stock up on the other springs too.
Maybe you could put some O-rings on yours. No idea if they would stay put. That is part of the reason I got the straight groove one was if I wanted I could put O-rings in the grooves, but I have not tried it yet.
I need to pick up one of the OEM rear sights just in case I ever take the scope off my 795. Doubt I will but who knows how many of those older style sights they have left.
You have a great looking rifle! Glad you got one of the OEM stocks while they lasted! OEM+ is a perfect description for your rifle! hah
Really easy. Hard part is taking the action apart. Which really is not that hard. Just look at ArrowDoggers guide that is linked on the first page. Remeber to capture the hammer spring before you take it apart!
Bending the springs is super easy. Helpful to have 2 pairs of jewelers pliers or needle nose at least.
Thank you. The OEM bolt handle seems to be the biggest letdown/drawback for me, aside from the stock. Good tip on the O-rings, never thought of that. Numrich has the adjustable sights, think there's me link in the first post.

So I've read when I first get a rifle, I should clean it before firing.

Now, of cours I know how to clean a rifle in the normal maintenance, but as far as new rifles what should I do?
With the Remlins, there's often a lot of filings and shavings in the action and possibly in the barrel. Break it down as Chaos says below and clean and lube the rifle and run a patch/boresnake down the barrel. I had filings and shavings on my patch and in the action but the compressed air/computer air works great.

          Receiver/barrel
Action (don't need to take it apart unless you are changing parts or tweaking springs)
          Stock
          Trigger group

Just clean the action and inside of the Receiver/barrel real good and very lightly oil it.

Also, to whoever was wondering if they were getting the 795 with the new stock w/molded in sling studs, I may have my synthetic take-off with actual metal studs. WeiseGuy I think?

just bought my first marlin. it is a 795, beautiful little rifle, i was hitting moving targets at over 100yrds with it. have a nice lil 8pt 4x32 on it from academy, cost round $30, but its worth it. after about 25 rnds, i had a major jam and had to take the gun apart, new allen wrench for trigger gaurd removal, standard 16pc sets dont have the size. anyway, the major jam was caused by a promag 25rnd stick mag, it had pulled n jammed that silver lever on the side of the action tht the clip unlocks the trigger reset whn inserted, simple fix. but my problem is, i bought two of those clips, and straight out of the box, they jammed every single time. it pushes the round upwards n jams the round in an upward position, getting maybe the very tip of the cap in the chamber, and when pulled back to clear the jam, a second round popped out of the clip and made an even bigger mess.... i tried with both clips, AND with single rounds in each clip(to see if maybe it was spring tension causing it, it wasnt). ive heard of "shaving" the clip. does it work? any suggestions on what problem im having? oh, and ive have about 8misfires out of 600rnds of cci "choot 'em" .22 mini mags, if u get the misifre, point the gun into the brush/dwnrange, and tap the side of it, thtll make the round go off, learned the hard way whn attempting to open the bolt after the first misfire... lol. well, anyway, id appreciate some advice on the clip problem im having, im tired of being limited to 10rnds at a time(evn though i put over 1k dwn range the first two days straight out the box. on another note, love the forum, some of your suggestions and advice helped me greatly on the first problem i had. ill be posting pics and video soon. thanks everyone!!!

I'm guessing you're not in CA due to mentioning Academy (primarily in the South); if you are in CA, the use of the 25rd mag is a no-no, even for rimfires. You'll probably have trouble getting an answer here on a CA forum. Marlin forums and RimfireCentral may have a better answer than a forum centered on a state with a 10rd capacity limit. Also, not sure if that's how I'd handle the misfire issues...

There are other stock options or you can always drill it out and put a true stud in there.

Unless I'm mistaken, possession of the pmags wouldn't be illegal but importing or buying them would. It would be really hard to legally possess one as they are new but unless someone violated PC 12020 they would be ok right?

I noticed that most places that sell the GI slings only carry them in olive, I found and ordered this one in black

Quality wise I can't compare it to the others as it is my first sling.

Possession isn't illegal, correct, but the post referenced using them and I just posted saying that using a magazine above 10rds purchased after 1/1/2000, even in a rimfire, is no-go in CA, unless it's tube-fed. Having the mag is fine, but using it is a whole other ballgame.

I believe the Appleseed Project store has them in Black and OD, both nylon and cotton.

Sounds like jesseroel is out of state.

Seems like you have tried good quality ammo so thats a good start.
Have you taken you cleaned your rifle? Strip it of all the packing oil?
Then reoiled it VERY lightly. Like wiped off almost dry.
The silver lever you mention sounds like the magazine disconnect.
I just bend the tab on mine up like listed on the Mods post on the first page. That takes it out of the equation.

Since this is a California forum we don't have access to these magazines. So we can not be that much help I would try the forums that Boost recommended. I know both have a thread going on about these magazines.

Congrats! The Boyds stocks are beautiful and are a good value for their quality.. even if they do cost half as much as the rifle itself did. IMO Life is short, so enjoy a better stock. Every time you use it just think of it being a better value, hah.

We are not talking about pmags. We are talking about promags that came out just a month ago.

Sure if you could rebuild a prior to 2000 owned Marlin magazine like one for the M70 you could legally make a promag. But who knows if they have any interchangeable parts to do a rebuild. Most prior to 2000 22LR magazines Ruger and Marlin included where molded out of plastic and can not be taken apart. So you would have to literally brake the plastic body to harvest out the spring or follower as those are the parts that would most likely but not guaranteed to work in a newer style magazine.

Yes that does appear to be a reproduction GI Sling. I have seen black ones before so they are out there.

Actually use is legal for rimfire. (and some centerfire semiauto rifles, RAWs and Featureless)

The AWB and magazine law are 2 separate sections of the penal code.

Rimfire rifles are not listed in the AWB. So there is no exclusion to them using an above 10 round magazine like there is for Semiauto Centerfire Rifles in CA.

                                The magazine law says this:
12020. (a) Any person in this state who does any of the following is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison:
                                [...]

                                (25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
                                (A) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
                                (B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
                                (C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.
So as you can see use and possession is not regulated.
It is how you came to acquire the magazine and when.
