.... I watched a Marlin 795 disassembly video and realized the barrel doesn't come off by itself XP. I guess bore snake it is.

The only option I am aware of to clean from the breach is to use a boresnake. Otherwise how could you get a cleaning rod down the bore if you have to go in sideways through the ejection port?
I use a boresnake.

Another option is flexible cleaning cables like the ones made by Otis. You can screw on different brushes and pull patches thru. That's what I use on all rifles.

Boresnake is great for quick cleaning of powder fouling and other easily removed debris. I have several. After a few passes, it may need washing and drying, or you could be dragging abrasive crap through the bore.
The Otis is more versatile, since it can be used for lead removal by using lead removal patches too, that can be discarded after one use; and not repeatedly drug through the bore.

I've used some line trimmer to create my own low cost bore snake. You melt one end to get a little "knob" then sharpen the other end. You take the sharpened end and punch it through a patch. Dip the patch in your favorite solvent then run it through the bore from the action end out through the front of the barrel. You can replace the patch and repeat several times. Found this to be very useful for a quick cleaning. Carry several of them in Zip lock bags in my range bag for a quick cleaning of the bore. The biggest advantage is using it as a quick way to clean the chamber on my Marlin 795.

What a great thread!
Been researching semi-auto .22s NOT branded R****.
Read it through, obvious that the 795LTR will fill the bill.
Called the LGS for a one. He looked it up and said "its on closeout".
Recommended he get one also, so he did.
Appleseed in April and hoping my club schedules a .22LR 3-gun match.

I got one from turners for 150. Love it. I think I may just do a sling and bipod. Great post!!!!!!

Anyone add a Lyman Peep sight to their 795? I know techsights are available but a peep would extend the sight radius even more.

I hate that as well. Those molded little tabs can break off easily, then you're screwed. Especially in very cold weather. And for what? So Marlin can save $2 per gun? That's ridiculous. Plus, there is no way you can use a Harris Bi-Pod with those flimsy little tabs. Just charge the difference and put steel studs in. However, this violates the, "Build em' cheap, and stack em' deep!", philosophy.

Finally was able to pick my 795 today. Even though the bi-pod I bought will fit the molded sling mount I'll be adding a stud.

Also picked up the McFadden lightning loader and adapter they have for the 795 magazines. It works with the 10 round and pro-mag 25 round mags. So I'll at least still have my thumbs after a day of shooting. (Hopefully Monday)

Hey guys,
So I took my 795 to the range today for the first time since I installed a Mcarbo spring kit and a DIP trigger guard and wide trigger kit on the recommendations from this thread First impressions: The wide trigger is uncomfortable to use. I like the narrow stock trigger much better as it seems to fit my finger better . The trigger doesn't reset reliably once or twice per magazine. Is it the sear pre-travel adjusting screw or the over travel screw That's not allowing my trigger not to reset?
