Posting a picture requires uploading to a free photo site like Photobucket and then linking the photo. It's easier than it sounds but if you get confused feel free to shoot me a question.

My M&P15-22 lacks folding sights so I'm replacing the rear sight with a cheap plastic Magpul folding sight (~$50). The front sight shouldn't be a problem but I may replace it as well ($31). My new Weaver V3, quick disconnect P.E.P.R mount, and lens caps should be here on Monday and then I just need to find a place to sight everything in since the closest range is roughly 40-50 miles. SWFA did a price match and the grand total for the scope, lens caps, and mount including shipping came out to $264.

The M&P 15-22 MOE comes with MBUS folding sights front and rear. Since the rear sight folded is 1/2" high, I imagine that a 1" tall scope ring will allow the optic to clear it (folded) easily. Since the rear sight open is 1-3/8 " high, I don't see how you can use both irons and optics unless you mount the optic even higher (and look under it with the irons) or mount the optic forward of the flipped up MBUS which works on a red dot (co-witness) but not on a telescopic sight (something about eye relief?). But I may be missing something here. I don't know much about scopes - just starting out.

Just to add to the mix, consider a TruGlo Scope. I just handled the 4-16 infinity at my dealer/smith on a 10/22 with archangel stock. It has an AO and I thought the scope was pretty nice for the money.

I run the TruGlo TruBright on my Su-16 and Su-22. The TruBright has a 2.5 MOA dot or ar 2.5 dot in a 20 MOA ring. I like the shrouded but open design. My kid was hitting gongs at 125 yds with the SU-22 using a bit of Kentucky Windage. High value fun.

The rear sight is kept folded flat when using a scope. BTW some folding sights are a lot lower profile than others. I'd use a quick disconnect mount so that you can remove the scope when you want to use irons and still be close to dialed in when you remount the scope. I have a LaRue ($$$) on my 6.8 and those are supposed to be within 1MOA when you put it back on. The P.E.P.R. that I bought also has quick disconnect system, as do the GG&G mounts that I chose for my Eotech sights but I'm not sure if P.E.P.R. returns to within 1MOA. The idea with LaRue and GG&G's mounts is that the tension is preset when you flip the lever allowing it to return to exactly the same spot in relation to the rail each time as long as you use the same cross-slot.

I can attest to the Larue mounts returning to at least 1 moa when removed and reinstalled. Great product. I little too much for a 15/22 imo
