Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Yes, they are legal. The little .22lr ones are just too expensive for me.

.22LR won't ignite the more popular named brand targets like Tannerite and Star Target.

There seems to be considerable debate over whether or not Tannerite and other binary exploding targets are legal in CA.
On BLM land over the line in NV or AZ, on the other hand....

This state even bans C02 bombs. If there's a fireworks exemption, I'd like to see it.

I do not wanna be near Tannerite in CA. It'd be an easy charge to bring.

Tanner(ite) says it's approved but I do not see any letters, and I don't even know if he's used a California-cognizant attorney. When I questioned one of their distributors close to them at Reno gunshow, they got all huffy and said I was a crazy Californian.

There are exploding targets specifically designed and marketed for rimfires. I first encountered some back in '86 so, they've been around, and being sold in California for a long time.

                      +1...

If BWeise & others are not comfortable with them at this time.... Then I am not either...

Beyond that... I think it would be really easy to get slapped with some destructive device charges.

I go by the tried and true logic of
"if they sell it it must be legal'
