The 22/45 is on my list as well to get, but I still want a 1911/22 to train with and fit in my Blackhawk 1911 fitted holster.

My field is narrowing and the feedback has helped.

    Thanks and keep it coming..

I have the Kimber conversion kit works great on my SA 1911 GI and fit's the standard holsters without issues. As for the lock back, I don't remember, it's been a while since I used it but I will this weekend and can get back to you.

I use the Serpa CQC holster for my 1911 and it works just fine with the conversion kit.

Has a fixed barrel which is interesting. Not sure if the GSG does. According to this write up it's extremely accurate.

          Chiappa M1911

A fixed barrel gives really good accuracy when its shot from a Ransom rest. Accuracy suffers when the sight are attached to the moving slide and the barrel is attached to the frame because the two cannot lock together (like in the full size 1911) when the round if fired. Many conversion have sight rails attached to the barrel and the breech moves on a split slide which makes for a more accurate gun.

Ordered my Advantage Arms kit today. They even answer email on weekends. They are turning them out faster now. only 6-8 weeks back order now but I think I got the one they had on hand.

I think I will search out a "one shot" GSG 1911 as well.

I'm in the same hunt, either wait for one to get on the roster or single shot route.

anyone know when the Sig 1911 is supposed to be released?

The 22/45 has nothing in common with the 1911 other then the "45" and angle pf the grip. I hate speed loading with it because you can't slam it home like acutal pistols. If you do the floor plate comes off and all the ammo falls out (had it happen to me once or twice..)

I read in another thread here that the gsg1911ca is now ca approved?

Kimber .22 slide kits don't lock back, but you can use Black Dog red followers which will lock the slide back after the last round. The down side is if you remove the mag the slide will close. Also you have permanently install a stop to prevent more than 10 rounds being loaded into the mag.

+1 on the GSG 1911. The barrel is fixed to the frame and is not free floating. Accuracy is very nice. And yes slide locks back on the last shot. I held my GSG 1911 and then held my buddy's S&W 1911 and they felt nearly identical, even in weight. I believe a rep from GSG stated that it will accept 80% of the parts from a typical 1911, meaning triggers, safties, grips, sights, MSH, etc.

I want to get something to keep up my 1911 skills, so it has to have lock back on last round and same dimensions as full size GI 1911 to fit my holster. (Not the new Browning that is 80% scale)

As far as I know only the old Colt ACE and Advantage Arms conversions have this feature.

Anyone with an ACE, Advantage Arms, full up 1911 chambered in 22lr, or know of any others with lock back that have any personal experiences?

                              Thanks for your time!!
I don't think the .22lr conversion helps too much w/ anything other than trigger pull. But you can practice that just by dry firing.

I have a Ciener conversion. It keeps the same dimensions allowing holster use; I don't remember if it locks back on last round as I've not used it for at least 7+ yrs.

But locking back is just a simple cut where the slidestop goes; however, I'd imagine that part should be made out of steel instead of AL for durability.

actually, I was curious and just checked. My ciener does not lock back after last shot because its magazine didntpush the slidestop up.

If you are interested in buying, it'll come w/ 2 mgs, box, etc. I'm in the bay area too. Oh, very little used.
