It's been a year or so and I still cannot get the barrel off the frame.

I went to Home Depot and bought a dead blow hammer. It worked like a charm. The barrel came off with just a couple of good whacks. Have something ready to catch it with. Just keep telling yourself that it was made to have the barrel taken off.

Now, working on putting it back together correctly. I had it back together before, but the magazine kept falling out every time I dry fired it. Obviously that's not right.

Man your story is known very well.. I should be the poster child for this thread. When I got my Mossberg 590 I decide to change the stock and forend to the Black Hawk version, dude at the counter was like " Ya 30mins tops, no problem ", I've done work on my AR before so I was pretty confidant.

Long story short 4 hrs to replace 2 things, WHY? you ask for 1. first time disassembling and shot gun and 2. for some reason the crown lock wouldn't site flush on the threads of the mag barrel for I had to dremel for it to fit.

Another issue was the heat shield sat right on top of the forend too, so had to dremel there as well, did I mentioned the dremel broke 2hrs in. So I had to use a file btw this was done in the middle of the night started 11pm finished 5am this is with cleaning, re-assemble, etc....But ya "That was annoying...."
