    That was annoying...

15 minutes to take my new Ruger 22/45 apart. 2 1/2 hours to get it back together again.

And I never got the barrel to slide off the trigger assembly.

Is there difference in take down between Mk II and Mk III? Mk II are easy to take apart and re-assemble.

Once you get the couple steps figured out its not that bad. There are plenty of great videos on youtube if you are still having trouble.

Also there is a difference between the Mark II and III when assembling and reassembling because of the stupid mag disconnect safety. Once removed it makes it quite easier.

They can vary a lot in how easy they come apart and go back together. My first one did/does so pretty easily.....a MKII. I have several and they are all a little different from one another. A friend has a 22/45 MKIII that needs a rawhide mallet to pop the top end off and get it back on. It would be nice if they spent a little more effort in getting the fit so they would come apart in a more uniform manner!!

My MKII requires a good whack with a rubber mallet. My MKIII comes off easily.

Thanks for the link. That's a very detailed set of instructions.

Now, even from the beginning, my problem wasn't what to do, as I have the factory instruction manual and access to plenty of youtube videos and such, it was the actually doing it that was frustrating.

I guess I'm not mechanically inclined. I don't work with my hands for a living, and I'm not what you would call "handy", so I found it hard sledding. I don't know how hard to push/pull and I'm afraid of breaking something. I don't like the thought of tapping my brand new gun with a mallet.

This is something you have to do and keeping doing before it gets any easier.

I find Moe's video to be a great help. Note that he is showing a Ruger Mark III. The magazine in the 22/45 has to be out to work the mainspring release lever.

HAHAHHA join the club. This comes up about once or twice a month. Honestly once you do it a few times it will be much , much easier. I had problems the first time I took mine apart but after the initial breakdown and shooting it loosened up considerably. I still keep my manual at arm's reach no matter how many times I disassemble it. It's been a year or so and I still cannot get the barrel off the frame.

I just put a fore grip on a shotgun and when I turned it over after removing the trigger group, a bunch of parts fell out.
