If you want a budget .22 that will shoot as well as a high end gun, look for a M44, M42, etc. Old Mossbergs still shoot as well or better than new rifles that cost 5X as much.

Match ammo is lower velocity and therefore drops more since gravity has more time to act upon it during flight.

Turbulence plays a greater role on accuracy than does amount of drop (hence the use of subsonic match ammo at distance).

I think I'm getting that Tapco stock...Anything I should look for in the Ruger 10/22? As far as barrel/trigger? or is it all the same?

I have a 10/22 carbine with a standard 16" barrel, custom 'Clark' trigger, and a $65 scope. I love this set-up and can chase a tennis ball around the range at 100 yards to 150 yards all day long with bulk Winchester ammo ($18 for 525 rnds)
If I want a chanllenge, I shoot golf balls at 150yds.

Standard Tapco stock go with Standard 10/22 carbine, Tapco tactical has slightly larger diameter barrel ramp, for bull barrel version of 10/22. I've seen people opened up their standard Tapco stock with sandpaper to accept the bull barrel size. Trigger housing are all the same, you can change out the trigger group with more precise aftermarket parts, such as volquartsen, KID, etc.. Just a quick Google will give you good results. Good luck!

For the money, .22LR sub MOA accuracy out of the box, and an ultra light trigger for 20.00 I'd go with a CZ 452 $408.00 shipped or CZ 455 American $362.00 shipped
Rugers are great for a semi and can shoot real accurately also, but by the time you add all the mods, time etc to get to where you want it you can have a 700.00+ .22LR.

If you count magazines, cleaning kit, scope, case, and buffer -- I've paid $346. I purchased the rifle from a mom and pop store used (included the Clark trigger).

I just ordered a 10/22 cheapo model from Turners for $199.

First thing that has to go is the stock and then I need an optic.
