I recommend any of the Marlin tubular magazine models (bolt, semi-auto, or lever). I like not having to deal with a box magazine and the lack of such leaves the forward portion of the stock uninterrupted. The latter means I can place my forward hand without having to avoid a magazine protruding from the stock.

If you just want to plink then get a 10/22 or Marlin 60. If you want to shoot small groups @50/100 yds then I suggest a CZ 452/453 or Kimber 82 or Mossberg 44US.

As had been said a 10/22 can be made to shoot extremely well (less than MOA) as long as you have the time, patience and $$$.

            Anything CZ 452, and/or CZ453 American.

If you decide on a CZ, checkout. www.czcustom.com - Free shipping

California FFL's, generally vastly over charge on CZ Sales.

I like them enough.that I have a LH Lux, Full Stock and s 453 Varmint.

            All are 22 Cal.

The 10/22 is reliable and accurate out of the box. In reality, the factory barrel is accurate; its just the triggers that need tweaking. A couple of Volq trigger parts and you have a shooter. Most people MOD theirs to whatever budget they can afford. Brownells, Midway, etc have alot of parts.
