advice on a good 22cal range gun please

greets all-

I am looking for advice on a good 22 cal long gun to buy ..basically i'm looking for something I can plink all day with at an indoor or outdoor range....should I get something like a rem 597 or a colt ar15 replica or? from what I understand cali law says no magazines larger than 10 rds even tho i've seen some nice 30 rd ext magazines for the 597 and the colt..... any info and advice appreciated...thanks

10/22 is the top on my list.

the difference is about 200 and you can use that on ammo.

I can plink all day with a Ruger 77/22. It's the best .22 shooter I've ever had.

10-22's seem to be far more recommended than the 597 models?..is the difference between the two that large? both in quality and workmanship?

.22s use Magazines. Not Clips. I would buy a 1022.

Another thumbs up for the S&W 15-22. Every time I take it out, it's in constant use either with my boys or with guests - I barely get to shoot it. It gets almost 1000 rounds put through it during each session.

10/22, I had tech-sights one one and it would hit a shoot n see paster(the bigger ones) at 25 yards every time.
