.22 magnum revolver?

The Mag is definately very noticable compared to the LR, but nowhere near that of a .38 special.

I had my wife shooting the single six with LR pretty good, then she got a little squeemish shooting the WMR.

When I handed her my .357 loaded with .38 special, she freaked out and handed it back after one shot.

I like 22magnum as much as the next guy, and have owned a couple, but out of a typical 5" barrel the muzzle velocity is only slightly greater than a high velocity 22lr out of a rifle. It's a good round, but I'd take a 38 special any day over it if possible for stopping power. Plus rimfire ignition is not nearly as positive as centerfire.

I'd recommend that if you get a convertible model you consider one with adjustable sights, as usually the point of impact will be significantly different between the rounds.

Need advice on .22 magnum revolvers? I planning to get acquire one. Is there actually a big difference between the .22lr and .22 magnum?

The magnums still edges out over the 22 LR's in terms of velocity. Now. if you use a "Hyper Velocity" 22 LR like CCI "Stinger" they come close to approaching the 22 magnums velocity/speed.

The price for a box of mangums is twice that of buying a box of 22LR's so if money is not the issue then go for them.
Magnums has a jacket around the lead bullet and the 22LR has a copper wash/coating instead.

Do 22 WMR have equivalent super optimized velocity loads like a 4-5" barrel length fast burning hyper velocity round?

I noticed I get better accuracy (at close ranges where ballistic considerations are negligible) with the .22wmr cylinder and ammo. Seems compromises had to be made to have the one barrel do both calibers. .22lr is noticeably smaller in diameter (i've heard as much as .001"). .22wmr bullet will not fit the LR cylinder. I believe this is why my Rough Rider loses some accuracy in the dual WMR and LR compatible barrel compromise. It doesn't shoot bad, but for a SAO I was hoping for exceptional groups.

oh that rail mount for SA revolvers. How do you like it? Does it stay true after lots of shots and handling?

I love my Heritage rough rider in .22 lr/.22 mag. I will be honest I have never even shot .22 mag out of it but it is a great inexpensive gun.

I just bought one in .22 lr. I shot it once and had to send it in as the hammer sear was oversizes. With that said I still think it is a great gun and I bought another one already.

I had a taurus 22mag revolver for my mom for a long time she loved it and had no issues shooting it except its very loud.

i have rough rider, its nice and i love it, i have tried both 22lr and mag, 22 mag is louder, more smoke, more fun, a bit more recoil than 22lr, but no where near my EAA 38 spl.
however, for single action, loading and ejecting ammo is a good test... some of my friends can not handle it... they like quick loading and release....

I have a Ruger stainless single six with adjustable sights. .22 and .22 mag cylinders and I've only shot 50 rounds .22 mag, very sweet .22 is very accurate also. I'd like to sell mine though and get a Ruger mark III. I've decided I like handguns with magazines better.
