    Sig Mosquito Issues

My Dad recently picked up a Sig Mosquito and has been to the range with it twice so far and both times it's had serious feeding issues.

Frankly the damn thing is a jammatic.

So what are the known issues with these and are there any common 'fixes' out there or is Dad just hosed?

use CCI mini mags when it comes to ammo. If you are willing to do a little work to it, polish the feedramp. I took superfine sandpaper (600+ grit) and polished it shiny, then took a dremel and buffed it with a cloth wheel. Now it eats bulk pack ammo all day with no malfunctions. It really made a world of difference

also hitting the feed ramp with some jewelers rough works wonders. I have also seen this done with old surplus pistols.

And yes try running cci mini mags. They dont like bulk remington or winchester

Use the higher velocity stuff, it relies on the recoil to load the next round if I recall correctly.

Mine will work with CCI Mini-mags or Remington Thunderbolts (both 40 gr). Its a really picky little pistol.

+1 on trying different ammo. My Mos likes some Remington stuff. Keeping a stiff wrist might help also.

My fault, I forgot to mention all the firing with it so far has been with CCI Mini-Mags as recommended.

The more I think about it the more I think I need to get this pistol from him and do some maintenance and tuning.

A thorough cleaning, polish the ramp and disassemble, clean and deburr the magazine and follower.

Sure there is. Buy a new 22LR pistol!

I bought one and I'll never go back to it. I traded it in for a MK 22/45 and I never looked back.

send it back to sig. They had a big batch of bad guns.

After polishing the ramp, my Mosquito shoots all high velocity .22 LR. Lately I discovered it will shoot Aquila Sniper Sub-Sonic 60 grain .22 LR, which is a 60 grain bullet in a .22 short cartridge.
Keeping it well oiled helps too.

If it's acting like that with MiniMags, I would consider sending it back before you work on it yourself. Good luck.

Run it wet. There is a video on YouTube.
