This is one of the reasons I don't suggest people buying Mosquitos, Neos, S&W 22As or P-22s as a primary .22 handgun. When I worked at Agoura, I saw all of these models having serious problems all the time. Why buy any of these when there are proven designs (Ruger, Browning, High Standard, S&W 41, etc.) out there which can be had for the same or less$?

I agree with csa 100% also based on operating an indoor range before. I've passed up a Mosquito not much more than $200 due to the issues. I want a DA .22lr pistol not based on the PPK and not a Mosquito and not a pocket pistol.

Am leaning toward a Beretta 87 cheetah type but very expensive. It's too bad Sig-Sauer and Walther didn't come out with better designs. Having to rely on mini-mags upsets me with ammo sensitive .22lr's I've owned as well. If it can't work with Fed bulk pack the gun sometimes goes bye-bye with me.

Although I am still in the market for a Browning (even before I got the Sig), I got the Sig for my girl b/c she liked the way it felt in her hands and wanted to shoot/train on that so she the transition to my xd or any other gun would be a little more smooth. Also to the OP, I'll just echo what a few people have already posted, but def. polish the feed ramp. I took my dremel and filed down the lip of the barrel and the feed ramp very lightly, then put the cloth wheel on it and hit it with that, then cleaned and lubed. 3-5 minute job. Now I only shoot Fed. Bulk from Walmart since they are the cheapest that I have found with no real problems!

I could not for the life of me get used to the DA trigger pull on the mosquito i tried at the range. I ended up patterning the target at seven yards not even anything I could call a group. I like the DA on my cz82 a lot more for some reason.

Feed it mini mags after polishing the feed ramp. If I remember correctly there's also a little lip at the top of the feed ramp that prevents the bullet from entering the chamber smoothly and gets hooked up on it really easily. I've read that most people just grind this lip down and most of their feed issues disappear.

Make certain your father is using the correct recoil spring. The Mosquito comes with two recoil springs. Additionally, I keep the gun well lubricated, probably overly lubricated, which leads to extra gunpowder residue.
