First off, $5.00 per hundred is 5 cents a round, not 20. Second, no way .22 magnum is that cheap. I just pay $6.97 for a hundred CCI Mini Mags yesterday.
My bad, was not thinking, did a little too much drinking (thursday is my friday night). So 22WMR is going to be 7 cents a round. About double the cost, thats not too bad at all.

No, CCI Mini Mags are .22 LR. 7 cents a round is what I paid for semi-good quality .22 LR, not WMR.

Even at Cabelas, getting bulk packs of .22 WMR is expensive. 250 round Hornady packs come in at about 26 cents a round. Even CCI is about the same price - $12.99 for 50 rounds.

I'm however just stating for the op to keep in mind among the million upgrades you can do to a 10/22, is making it a 10/17.
Hm. Maybe I'll check out one of the conversions for my 10/22 sometime then. I've got a pretty decent .22 in my M&P 15-22 ... wouldn't mind something with a little more squirrel murder potential ...

17HM2 is freakin awesome, and certainly better than the 22lr. However you could buy a whole nother rifle for the same price as converting a 10/22.

Just get a stock 10/22 used for like $100-$200 and you can upgrade from there. No sense in buying a new one just to take it apart and replace it all anyway

I traded a 357 for a 10/22 Target recently, and after about $40 worth of upgrades its one of my favorite guns to shoot. Its shot 3/8" groups at 50 yards plenty of times to convince me never to sell it.

Oh and dont get the Magnum version, cause either way, 22Mag or 17HMR you wont be able to afford to shoot it lol

Sharxbyte...I have converted a few 10/22's too bull barrel, with upgraded trigger groups and various other parts..also did one 10/22 into a 10/17...problably one of my favorite shooters...17hmr ballistics with 17gr bullet is very comparable too 17hm2 out to about 125 yards...that said 17hm2 rounds are approximately half the cost....at that same distance the 22lr looses about 5" of drop ...the conversion is not that much more in cost...biggest concern is making sure that your bolt is upgraded as well as the spring and ejector....after that you can spend as little or as much as you want too dress it up your way...good luck in whatever you decide...and make sure and come back and post some pics of your build...

If you're going strictly for the supressor "look," fake supressors do exist that are legal in california.

Carbon fiber barrels are not any quieter than regular barrels. I have a Volquartsen CF barrel which is the best you can get. It stays cooler, is very lite and shoots great but not any more silent than any others.

Skip 22 Magnum. Get a 22LR Green Mountain barrel with a Bentz match chamber so you can shoot CCI Stingers if you want the extra zip. Much more cost effective than 22mag rounds, and you can also shoot the cheap bulk stuff for plinking.

Naw.. the "look" is cool enough... But I want something that is quiet.
