Adv Arms Conv Kit and RGB Users Beware

Just throwing this one out here.

Advantage Arms Conversion Kit + Remington Golden Bullets = Split Case

Advantage Arms Conversion Kit + Remington Golden Bullets = Do not use

    I have a G30 Gen3 + AA kit.

Not cheaper than RGB's but I tried CCI's with no problems.

Unfortunately, AA recommends RGB ammo for the kit to function and feed properly. Apparently, they (AA) received a letter from Remington stating that some of the RGB batch can split during fire. Remington has been lagging on QA these days. Not a surprise.

I have heard that you can run federal bulk from wally world through them just fine.

Golden bullets tend to short stroke on my AA anyways. CCI Minimags do seem to work best.

Remingtons are not the best for sure. Most manufacturers will warn against them.
I took some guys shooting yesterday and one had a box of Remington Goldens. He wanted to try them so I told him to give them a try. Every one ran fine. I guess my rifle has enough rounds through it to allow them to feed now.

I've had two split cases in two bricks of Remington GB with my advantage arms kit. I just very gently push a cleaning rod down the barrel and out comes the case.

I knew full well that Golden Bullet was crap when I bought the kit, but the kit's puttering along nicely. It's not like a split case damages the kit, right guys

As for running Federal copper-plated bulk through it, I've tried that a few times and every magazine without fail has caused all manner of FTF/FTE/cleaning rod fiascos. Federal AutoMatch works fine, and oddly enough, so does CCI Standard Velocity if you run the kit wet.

How many rounds do you have through the gun?

By .22 standards, it's pretty new, and it's on an essentially new glock frame. It's got about 1300 rounds through it and it's just starting to smooth out. I hadn't tried Federal since 300 rounds in or so, might be better now.

The problem with the Federal bulk pack ammo is kind of odd. I mis-typed in the other post, it fires fine, but the brass likes to stick in the chamber after firing and I have to push it out with a cleaning rod. Either the case in the Federal is thin or the extractor doesn't like the shape of the cartridge rim.

I dont see what the big deal with them is. I had a friend who broke in his 10/22 using RGB.

The internet knowledge (for what its worth) is that the Golden Bullets dirty the action quickly, have inconsistent charge weights, and have poor distribution of the primer compound resulting in FTFs.

Mine loves the Remington golden bullets. The ones I have problems with are the Federal 550 bulk pack. Those things just do not extract at all.

For those having issues with their AA kits...

The problem lies in their magazines. You need to shave 1/2 a cm or slightly more from the top where the tip of the bullet would otherwise be.

Without going into detail, if you take the barrel off of the top slide and mount it on the glock frame with a AA mag in... you'll see that the magazine (note NOT the follower) is completely in the way. Quite frankly, I have no idea how ANY bullet can be properly extracted.

Mine use to BARELY run with RGBs and forget about any other brand (CCI's were alot better). But ever since I made this quick mod (you can do it with a file) I've had ZERO problems.

Let me repeat... ZERO problems with ALL bullets I've tried thus far.

Hell even CCI CB's would extract (not feed obviously hehe) and even subsoniqs.

Let me also add that I tested this buy running an unmodified mag with a shaved one back to back. One needed a rod down the barrel EVERYTIME (federal bulk), while the other... well lets just say i could dump the whole mag in like 3 seconds.

Didn't work for me too well.

RGB worked for me, but it's not too accurate and is way too dirty. I have about 10K of them though, gotta use them somewhere.

CCI Mini-mags work best, Winchester Super-X work well, as well, but they're a bit dirtier than CCIs. Overall, I haven't found what CCI Mini-mags don't work well with yet.

Whatever you use with your AA conversion, make sure it's high velocity, and you better clean it much more often than you clean your Glock, too
