the point is that it is not illegal to USE large-capacity magazines in that MP-15-22. Yes, there is a matter of how they are acquired, but the USAGE of them does not trigger a violation.
A couple examples I can thinkg of when I could legally posess large-cap mags to USE in a 15/22 would be if my LEO friend lent me some large-cap mags at the range to use in it. Or an FFL could lend them at the range as well. Now, if I went out and imported some large-cap mags today, that act would be a crime, but the USE of those mags is not a crime.Jack

I would think that the 15/22 is entirely legal in California. The key thing is that it is a rimfire gun and not a centerfire.
IMO, any legal issue would be associated with a high capacity magazine that entered the state after the Kaliphornia hi-cap magazine ban.Comment

This is true. When you buy the Rifle you get on standard length 10 round magazine. The compliant model has a fixed stock and a 10 round mag.sigpicComment

But since it it a rimfire rifle, it can have a folding/collapsible stock and still be legal (provided it doesn't end up <26" in its shortest fireable configuration.Jack

Possession and use of a large-capacity magazine, rimfire or centerfire, is not controlled. Period.Comment

As Hopi mentioned, I was specific in my language that USAGE of a large-cap mag was legal in this situation. How the magazine was acquired may be of issue, but the actual possession of the mag is not a crime.Jack

I own a 15-22 and got the barrel threaded for $30 and put my favorite flash hider on it. Completely legal. If you want the 25rd mags you have to buy them in AZ or closest neighboring state to you that sells em. They are legal to own and use but illegal to purchase in CA. If its illegal to own and use 11+ mags please post the actual legislation stating so.Comment

Importation is illegal.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace...
