    Need advice on Nordic Build

Firstly, I would like to say that am glad to be a new addition to your community. I turned 18 last year in October, and have since considered buying a gun. After lots of consideration, I have decided on getting a Ruger 10/22, and then doing a Nordic mod on it. I am pretty project oriented and know my way around most tools, but the closest I've gotten to actually working on guns, as opposed to shooting them, is customizing and upgrading airsoft. That said, I'm not sure where to start. This isn't terribly urgent, because my parents are staying in my house, and my dad has an a 15 year old item on his record that stops him from owning a gun. (So until he moves out, I wont take any chances with it) that is anywhere up to a year away at this point, but I would like to start my research, and possibly part acquisition now.

So far, here is the part list I have:
    __________________________________________________ ______

I can get a Ruger 10/22 rifle for $241 out the door at a local gun shop.(it is used)

The Nordic kit runs about $160

I want a fixed rifle butt, and the cheapest I found was 55 dollars

I eventually want a PSG1 style pistol grip. This runs 50 bucks pre-made, or I could buy a cheap grip and add a palm rest(or get a similar but different grip-with-rest). The cheapest grip was $4 but I probably want to go with one of the slightly higher quality at-least-$10-30-ones...

I also need a free float tube. The cheapest I found was $35 and it said it needed gunsmithing.

I already have a scope I can sub off of my Airsoft rifle.

I would probably also want extra mags...(dratted 10 capacity max law)

    __________________________________________________ ______

This all comes to just around 500 dollars, plus whatever shipping fees(which is for the most part why i am posting prices from one site... combined shipping=cheaper) (possibly I can get some of it locally)

Is there anything I'm missing, and any suggestions or recommendations? (i.e. extra hardware I need, or parts cheaper/better suited to my purpose?)

I attached a picture of about how I want it to look(frankensteined some pictures together).

Thanks for your help in advance!

Have you considered buying an SR-22, selling off the parts you don't want and adding the A2 stock and PG.

The A2 stock you linked to comes with a buffer & spring; neither are used in the Nordic Chassis.

The SR-22 is the better way to go. Full factory warranty for the whole package.

You can buy just the stock in Calguns. Or you can look into other folding/collapsable stock out there. The possibilities are endless !!!

Hm... I was looking at the sr-22... The main issue is that I can't get it for the same price... Used I MIGHT be able to get it for under 500, though its not likely with all the paperwork... but will I be able to switch the parts? You cant change the butt-stock on the S&W, or the Remington... (or that's what the gun shop guy said)

Glad to know I don't need the buffer thingummy-wot... that makes the butt-stock much cheaper.

sr-22 will be same price when you are done doing the build,so if it is money just get the sr-22.but if you want a build project have fun.

i tricked my 10/22 with a archangel kit and love it....

                      Welcome to Calguns!

The Nordic kit is cheaper than when I first looked at them, they used to be $225!I paid $170 for a used kit.
I already had an extra stock, pistol grip and free float tube in my parts box.
You'll need extra high rings for the scope unless you have a really skinny face or high cheek bones.
Are you going to want a heavy barrel or is the factory thin barrel OK for you?
Keep an eye on the marketplace for the parts you need, something will eventually turn up.

                      Here's my 10/22 with a 3-10 scope and preban 25 round mag.

I do have high cheek bones/skinny face, but I might check into high scope rails... the factory barrel should be fine for me; Thanks. I'll check out the marketplace. any other tips guys?

Check out the pictures in this thread, there are a couple of cool looking SR's ...

I would think the buffer tube can be removed and replaced with a A2 fixed unit.
