I'm curious how your Volq extractor and GM barrel are mating up. Change out either the barrel or extractor. Also, leave the tuffer buffer off until you have it functioning.

I was trying the other school of thought. Do it all at once to minimize the number of times I open up the rifle.

Learning why a diploma from that school is pretty much worthless, yet?

Looks like the extractors mating well with the barrel, I'd like to keep the barrel, so I'll try the extractor next. What will leaving the tuffer buffer out do?

Did you find the website or scanned copies of the 10/22 mag teardown/assembly ?

Match chambers are really tight, and don't allow for much tolerance in other components. Barrel retailers usually specify if they are Match, and offer both.
Dis-assembly and re-assembly of a Ruger 10 shot mag for a first timer will have you pulling your hair out and wishing you had an extra pair of hands.
There "was" a website with pics and detailed instructions, but it's a dead link now. Fortunately I printed it out for a buddy. If I can find the copies, I'll scan them to my files, and post them here in a new thread.
