Yes Sir, Discount Gun Mart http://www.discountgunmart.com/categ...m_santee_home/

We live kind of in-between their range and that Iron Sights you mentioned. Have been to both a few times. The Discount Gun Mart allows all pistol calibers, but generally just .22LR in rifle, though the 30 Carbine is under their 2000fps rule (for their backstop), and we took our old one there a couple times. Fun place, good assortment of supplies (haha just like Iron Sights).

Thanks for the write-up on ammo. We have yet to try that CCI but looks like it's worked well for you guys.

Everything functioned perfectly. Midway through the session I stopped and did a quick field strip. I have to say the CCI Minimags are clean, whereas, the Federal was a dirty bugger and gritty.

Now there are horror stories with ppl getting FTEs and all that fun stuff after firing off 800+ flawless rnds. I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed and stay positive, but I'm am totally impressed right now with the 15/22.

Iron Sights in Oceanside (Socal) is also a great indoor range. No Wolf Ammo for those who use it and I don't... not that Wolf makes .22 ammo though, ha. There is no weird attitude, they are very polite and helpful. You could fire in quick succession, no 1 sec rule like in some places. $13 and you can bring your own ammo if you have your own gun. $7 for friends, 3 total per booth. They get a "thumbs up" from me.
RobGR, I'm new to this forum and a new 15/22 owner as well (I pick mine up today at P2K). I just wanted to introduce myself to the 15/22 owners and also ask you "what Walmart in San Diego did you find CCI MiniMags at"? I've looked all over for them and only found one place in Ohio that has them in stock. I also own a Sig Mosquito and about the only thing it will fire consistently are Mini Mags. Should also mention, since your in San Diego, that you should check out the P2K range in El Cajon. They have a great staff and a well run range. You can shoot anything short of .50 cal and they also have a Trap/Skeet and archery ranges.

Hey congrats, let us know how it goes with the 15-22! We love ours.

I second the question on which Wal-Mart...from what I've seen at WM their ammo (.45 anyway) gets stocked on shelves, grows wings and flies away haha.

I found some at the Santee WM today. 100 40gr at $6.47

There were only 8 or 10 boxes left at approx. 2:00pm

Hey guys, I got the CCI Minimags from the WM off of 78 and College. I went back there today and they didn't have any left. I should have bought it all when I had the chance, ha, it's great ammo.

I went to the range today again. I had an extra box of 100 CCI Minimags from the last time, shot all that, and then went through 200 rnds of Federal. No FTEs and no FTFs. No problems at all!

Jim, as mentioned in previous posts, strip the 15/22 down and lube it up lightly, possibly even cleaning out any metal shavings from the factory, before you take it out. Here's a simple and effective vid on the basic strip and clean - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVYi12yWd_s
I have no idea how much experience you have with the AR platform, I have none and the vid was a great intro.

Good to know the other spots. Cheers, guys.

Do we have a thread yet to just post images of our 15/22s?

I want to share some my pics but don't want to hijack ibstyler's thread.

EDIT: Found what seems to be one, will post there -

Woohoo! I'm a newbie to Calguns (this is my 1st post) but from reading your reviews of the M&P 15-22 and watching video clips on youtube, I decided to go out and pick one up. I was lucky to score one from Big 5 for $419+tax & DROS (Fathers' Day Sale). I was going to purchase it from Turners who also have it on sale for $479 but was lucky to find the same exact rifle on sale at Big 5for much less. I have my concerns about the rifle and keeping my fingers crossed that my rifle doesn't have the FTE issue. Hopefully this rifle is a new batch, that's been factory corrected/repaired. But at least I know I can always turn to this site and to youtube for some tech advice, other than the S & W Customer Service. Thanks for the recommendations and advice...looking foward to taking it to the range as soon as I pick it up in 10 days.

You mean 11 days. From what has been posted here before, Big 5 makes you wait 11 days. IIRC, others have stated it is their policy. You might want to check your paper work to see when you pick it up and how many days it is.

^ yep, big 5 gun jail is 11 days.

I just started the waiting period on one there today too.

The one I'm going to get has a blue folower, silver springs, dtx prefix, and a RED star stamp on the manual. Any idea what the red star means here?

Opps! I stand corrected, its 11 days wait. My rifle has a s/n prefix of DTZ, do these have the FTE issue? I also have the blue follower in my magazine and seems to not have the "pulldown"tabs for the magazine's follower? Did I receive a defective magazine?!

It's fine. That's how S&W made the 10/25 magazines. The new short 10 rounders have a pulldown tab, much you don't really need to use them to load.

I think (not for sure k?) I saw on another thread that meant it was an updated manual, or maybe the poster meant that manual came with the updated rifle? Sorry I am not totally sure. You probably shouldn't worry though.

Yours rifle sounds like ours...let us know how it runs after you get it?!

Gun jail is killing me! I really can't stand this law. Perhaps it makes sense on an initial firearm purpose but I already have 3 guns. which are much much more offensive than a .22lr! Enough of that rant tho. . .
