hey nice one mate! i know i just got mine a few weeks ago and absolutely love shooting it. i noticed that you are thinking about a 3x mag - i currently have the primary arms one on my rifle and like it so far.
what kind of paint did you use to paint your mag? ive been thinking about doing the same but i was just worried about feeding issues and color matching. simple stuff but i currently only have one mag.Comment

Depending on the s/n and spring color, the 15/22 may be the problematic batch or the latest batch where you don't have to worry about the extractor and don't have to send it in to SW for repairs. That said, if you're not having issues, you should be fine.... right?

I just bought some Krylon Ultra Flat Tan spray paint in a can. I just sprayed it on with OUT and special tip. It turned out very well. In person you can tell there is a SLIGHT difference(i mean its hard to tell) in colors. It's a little lighter than the Magpul Dark Earth. I took apart the magazines, and I did wipe them down pretty good. Then I did like 2-3 coats. I only painted the magazine high enough so no black would be seen when the magazine was in the rifle. I didn't want any feeding issues or any problems withe the mag not going in easily. It only takes like 15 mins to dry. This is the inexpensive way of doing it. If you wanna go more expensive and maybe a little better quality google "duracoat in magpul flat dark earth". It should take you to a website called houtsenterprises.net. Look through the quick guide and you will find a few ways of doing it. If you have anymore questions feel free to pm.

Hey, Stuie, from what I've read, they haven't correlated any s/n with the "defective" M&P 15 22s, it's all about the color of the springs.

It's been crazy all the talk and I have yet to get mine. If it shoots and ejects, it's good to go, otherwise it sounds like S&W has been on top of it with great customer service. But I'll definitely open mine up and make sure there is a blue spring before I take it home.

Spoke to S&W and they are no longer putting blue springs on the M&P's. The ones that had blue springs were older models that had not been updated and they replaced them with blue springs before shipping out to identify them. They also used blue springs for those who returned their problematic 15-22's. The serial number's are a way to help identify if yu have an older or newer one. The DTX is when they started updating. Some are not updated, some were replaced with blue springs, and some are updated but have silver springs. The way to tell is to look at the updated ejector design, the blue follower on the mags and the manual with a blue star stamped. I own two DTX. My older one had silver springs, bluefollower mags, updated ejector and red star stamp on manual. It has 2500 rounds with only two fte's that occurred during the first 300 rounds. I recently picked one up last week. DTX also with blue mag, silver springs, updated ejector, but had a blue star stamp on manual. This one looks like the updated one where they no longer use blue springs. I have it up for sale in the classifieds.Comment
