    Ruger 10/22 vs Marlin 60

I'm looking to pickup a cheap plinker while I wait for a damn Marlin XS7 .308 to come in stock

From what I've read the Marlin 60 is damn reliable. I don't like the tube, however using something like the Spee-D-Loader can alleviate that problem.

I haven't read too many bad things about 10/22's as well. It wins hands down in the "aftermarket" department. I wouldn't mind tossing on a new stock on the mighty 10/22... that way it can look like a mighty assault rifle [joke].

Marlin 60 - Plain and damn reliable?
10/22 - Moddable, and maybe slightly less reliable?

Any opinions or first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

I went 597, 10/22, sig522, GSG..... now I'm back to the 10/22... still have a Sig522 though. My 10/22 is tricked out and does better than moa at 100 yards, Sig522 is great out to 75 yards, it takes a dump and de-stabilizes at 100yards.

          My pick is 10/22

Cheap plinker? Mossberg 702 Plinkster. I got mine brand new with a mounted 4x20 scope for $125 just about 8 months ago. It shoots damn good and is quite accurate. Best deal goin' on a cheap plinker .22lr, IMO.
Proudly nestled all snugly and warm in Hillary's basket. She even made room for my bibles and guns!

10/22 is still king of .22 rifles.

Who ever said the 10/22 wasn't reliable? 1000's of rounds through mine & never 1 problem. Not one!
The only thing I've seen with brand new 10/22's is that their recoil spring is pretty stiff so you have to use high velocity shells during break in or clip a few coils........Either way, GTG.
& the 10/22 need no mods, they work perfect as designed

Can you tell I love the old 10/22

                          I have both a Marlin model 60 and a Ruger 10/22.

I say go with the Ruger, they really are the best. Even if you don't go with aftermarket stuff it's still a great gun.

Either gun will be great though. You really can't go wrong.

as ae13291 said get the marlin 795 i have 2 and love em. Shoots good love the bolt lock back on last round. Have shot probably 1000+ rounds through mine so far and haven't cleaned them yet and they show no signs of stopping.
