Turners is going to sell them for 539.99....knowing turner's though, it will probably go on sale for a bit less.Impactguns sell these for $449.99. If turners sell them under $500, i'd probably get one. http://www.impactguns.com/store/RUG-SR22.htmlComment

That thing looks ugly. I would rather upgrade a regular 10/22.Insert something clever here.Comment

Was at Turners about a week ago (chino hills), one of the employees showed me an email confirming that they will be receiving some and at $539 I believe. However the email did not give specifics like when and how many.
Oh well, have to wait and see. I want the darn S&W M&P15-22 to get here already.
and the freakin sig also.

You're right if you have a 10/22 already, but you'll be hard press to buy a base 10/22, the Nordic kit, and the other items needed to complete it for under $500 on your own.
The more I think about it, the more likely I am to go this route. My dad took my 10/22 and mags and now has them in AZ. With my little guy too small to shoot the 10/22, his Cricket was fine. Now that he's bigger, I think it's time to reclaim my mags and pick up one of these. My dad can keep the rifle and buy his own mags.
As was said above, getting this and using my 25 round mags is a lot cooler then a AR clone with 10 round mags.- Jeff

We purchased three Colt M4 Ops to test and took them to the range with 5000 rounds of Winchester, Federal bulk pack (Walmart budget ammo), and Wolf target. We used an Eotech red dot sight (which easily hits a 100 yard 6" steel plate with regularity). We sparingly used bicycle chain dry lube on the bolt races. We ran them very hard because we want an AR type training rifle for tactical classes where ~ 1000 rounds are required. The Colts ran flawlessly, and are extremely accurate! Two of us immediately ordered the M16 flat top versions as well and those don't even need a scope they are so accurate with the small aperture rear sight and long sight plane!
The Colts are easy to clean in 3 minutes with Gunscrubber (for Synthetic) and a .22 caliber bore snake - then they will go another 400-500 rounds. The Colts fed every kind of ammo we had from Federal bulk pack to Wolf Target, but they will not feed the Remington Golden bullet. We sold several of the M4 Ops models at a local LE only SWAT competition. We bought 40 more and have them in stock with both 10 rounds and 30 round LE mags. The Colts are built very sturdy and are very close to the controls found on an AR.
We received an SR22 yesterday, dry lubed it, put a Magpul Moe stock on it and a Tasco PDP5 red dot and put 500 flawless rounds through it with all ammo types including the Remington GB's. I like that it is of sturdy metal construction on a long time proven action. I like that I can utilize my old Butler Creek 30 rounders. The rifle was super accurate like the Colt model. What I didn't like much was that the bolt doesn't stay open on the last round. It's never been a huge problem for "fair weather Sunday" plinking, but if you are putting thousand of rounds in training classes through it, there could be some problems peening the rear of the chamber. Another big issue with the SR22 is that you are not training on an AR platform. All the controls are different which could cause you big problems when converting back to the AR platform in a stressful situation.
We have ten S&W MP-22's inbound and they should be here next week. I expect that if Magpul's own Travis Hailey ran a class with one and gave it his blessings, it will be good to go. Not sure if I like polymer receivers though, but shouldn't be a problem with low pressure .22 rounds. Looking forward to testing this one.
If you are concerned about the cost of these rifles, consider a 1000 rounds of .223 is ~ $450, and 1000 .22's is about ~ $30. That's a lot of shooting and training without breaking the bank - same size hole and about the same low recoil. Two training classes and you've more than paid for the rifle. At least with the .22 round rifles you have something to show for your money, not so with 5.56/.223.
If I can answer any questions, mail me direct as I rarely check PM's

Uhhh, 10/22's have a firing pin stop to avoid that issue. What I didn't like much was that the bolt doesn't stay open on the last round. Well I broke down and and bought the SR-22. Turners had them for $499.
For $39 you can pick up Rugers rail and drop on a set of iron sights. I have a set of Magpul BUIS's I'll pop on.
Will probably pick up at the Sig T-1 clone at some point for it. Pop on a my Harris bi-pod and my boy will get to use it too with the stock fully collapsed.
Just couldn't ignore all the Butler Creek mags.- Jeff

I just paid $399 for the VTR yesterday. Aside from working through the feeding problems, it's a nice gun. Although, I looked hard at the Colt M4 .22, which looks exactly like my Colt M4 AR15. It was $529.00 and I kind of wish I had bought it. May have to sell my 10 22, a couple old shot guns and an old savage .22 and go buy it anyway.Comment

Just bought the ruger sr22 at turners. $574.17 out the door.
. I really hate the ten days waiting period.
