Which current .22lr semi-auto would you buy

edit: Duh, you said semi-auto! I would say it would be a toss-up between the Ruger 10/22, Remington 597, and Marlin Model 60, with my vote going for the 597 for out of the box accuracy and the ability to quickly upgrade to Volquartsen hammer & extractor.

you mean 17HM2? normal 10/22 wont convert to 17HMR. at least not easily or safely.

I would say the marlin 795 is the best for pest control and general plinking. 10/22 is better for tack driving or mall ninja'ing (can i use ninja as a verb?) but it will cost you $100 more.

the new ones are dog poo compared to the older ones. try to find a used one, or go with something else. i personally will not own one that is newer than 2 years.

For affordability - Ruger 10/22 using CCI Stingers ammo, but I've read that the new production Rugers aren't as great as the old ones...bummer! Like one of the users posted, "trying finding an old Ruger".

My 1984 manufactured Sturm Ruger 10/22 has been handed down to my wife. I now plink with my new Colt M4 .22lr and hopefully someday hunt jack rabbits/squirrels.
