Browning Buckmark variations - which to buy?

OK, I got the plain jane one (no adj rear sight) so hopefully it's fine.

Truth be told I hedged my bets and bought TWO of them (a second one off Amazon), in case the first one didn't fit for whatever reason.

Once I get one installed that works, the other is getting returned to Amazon.

Buckmark Choices

The differences are in the grip styles. Try them in a gun store. Whichever grip is comfortable is the one to pick up. Mine came with a 1-piece grip. It was uncomfortable. I recently replaced it with 2-part grip. Had to do some trimming in the front to match the contours of the lower receiver.

If planning to shoot with iron sights, 5.5" barrel will give you longer sight radius and a higher muzzle velocity.

Wouldn’t the 7.25” models give even longer sight radius and higher muzzle velocity than the 5.5” versions? There’s at least one on the roster.

Yes.
The 5.5" just balance much better than the 7.25" in the hand.
I have 4", 5.5" and 7.25" Buckmark pistols and I can definitely feel the difference.

Find a UDX stainless and buy the 7.25 Bullseye barrel from Browning.
You'll smile every time you shoot it.

That's exactly what I have. UDX stainless with gray laminate grips and the 5.5" slab side barrel. I have a Burris FF3 red dot on it. Shooting it from a bag it seemed to have more muzzle flip than some of my other 22 pistols and the groups showed. They were about 1/2" to 3/4" at 25 feet. I bought a Browning 4" slab side barrel and a Browning 7.5" bull barrel from Midwest Gun Works.

The 4" absolutely makes it a fun little gun. It prints just slightly larger groups than the 5.5" barrel. But the muzzle flip seems less noticeable to me than the 5.5" barrel. With that 4" barrel and the red dot you can still ring steels as fast as you can pull the trigger. It's a much better small pistol than a Walther P22 or Ruger SR22 which would have a hard time mounting a red dot.

The 7.5" barrel shrunk the groups in half (cloverleafs at 25') with no muzzle flip at all making it equal to my S&W 41's and Ruger MkII 6 7/8" Gov't and Target models.

With any Buckmark, get more barrels.... and a red dot.

I'm in the market for a Buckmark, mostly because I don't have one yet. The lowest cost Camper that Sportsman's has for $399 is likely what I'll go with, but I'm curious about folks' opinions on the other models. There's too dang many varieties of it to keep track of.

I've had 2 Campers and a Standard Flat Sided Barrel Buck Mark in the past. They were all sold away when I underwent some financial difficulties.

If I were to buy another Buck Mark, I think I would get either the Contour or the Target model with the 7.5 inch long fluted barrel.
