This thread is somewhat timely as I am seriously considering the Practical URX whenever the next Browning rebate comes online.

My Glock AA kit works fine but is hardly accurate so a dedicated target pistol, and one that fits my son's hands, is looking might attractive atm.

For those with the Practical URX, how's it been for you?

I would consider if you want to buy aftermarket grips for it at some point. The URX has the least amount of options, I believe.

It's pretty crazy how accurate these things are. I'm honestly not great at pistol shooting, especially with glocks, but I'm able to make decent groups at the max distance at an indoor range with a buckmark.

If I understand it correctly, the URX is midway in grip size between UFX and contour?

URX grips are easy to track down.

The stock grips on the URX are fine. They are similiar to Hoge wraparounds, but will still feel thin because of how slender the frame is. I replaced my URX grips with Hogue Piranhas just because I wanted something different.

According to the link, the URX is the smaller of the grip styles. It goes UFX, UDX, URX. Contour I believe has to do with the barrel.

The only real downside to the factory wraparound URX grip is they hold everything inside and you can't fold them. You have to take them off and rotate them around the levers and things tend to fall out. I just upgraded my 5.5" Contour with some TANDEMKROSS parts a week ago. I installed the Victory Trigger, The Titan mag release and the Gearbox. TK also just released a new style Halo for the Buck Mark that covers both styles of slides so you're good to go on that now. They currently only have the new Style B in black, so I'm waiting for it to come out in red to match my others parts. I have it with a Burris Fast Fire III on top and I can shoot the staples out of the target with it. I love that Contour.

- add $89 PA Microdot and TK Gear Box.
- maybe some smaller grips if it doesn't fit my son's hands very well

I just went with the cheapest Camper UFX and still haven't swapped the grips.
I added an Outer Impact top rail to allow for mounting of open reflex RDS.

The URX has the pic rail on top already, but I suggest look carefully at the RDS for the pistol if you haven't used a microdot closed RDS vs open reflex on pistols. My buddy has a pic rail on his BM with a Sig microdot and he by far prefers my setup with the Outer Impact and a Holoson ACSS Vulcan. The open reflex sits closer to the boreline and the sight picture feels a lot less obscured with an open reflex sight.

There are cheaper open reflex sights, and will depend on the type of shooting you plan to do. I got the ACSS Vulcan on my BM as a trainer for my Glock setup, and also to run steel challenge - you give precision for speed with the setup I got. But a simple dot is much cheaper typically.

Just something to consider, as I'm not a fan of the tube RDS on a pistols as it feels like it obscures the sight picture and distracting . Rifles tend to be less of an issue. Might just be me, but see if you can try both on a pistol and see.

Get the trigger. I've been shooting the gold curved for years and the flat face just feels great. We used a digital pull gauge and mine in now down to 2 lbs.
I'm going to do the same thing to my Buck Mark Rifle when the new Halo comes out in red so I can do just one parts order.

I'd just stick with irons truth be told, but my eyes are not great. Good enough for irons on a glock, but for anything I am getting primarily for accuracy, not good enough.

You can probably get an open reflex rds for the same price as a micro, some mount on a pic rail as well. The Holosun is very pricey for a BM, I just did it for consistency on optic for fast shooting and moving. For paper punching a simple rds is perfectly fine. I do find I'm starting to compensate for my eyes with more investments in optics.....

Guys, quick question on the TacSol rail.

I keep seeing indications that sometimes these don't fit, in terms of screw holes lining up with the gun itself. Not a lot but just enough to be in the back of my mind as a possible hiccup in my setup when the pistol gets out of jail.

Anyone put one of these rails on a CA Compliant Practical URX with stock bbl and run into issues?
