I like your decision and cz makes great guns. Personally, I really like a rifle with great sights from the factory. I own a Remington 521 JT which is my best .22 by far. Obviously not made for a long time. Next .22 will be savage mk2 FVT with the factory peep sight and globe on the front.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

I have a Thompson Center TCR/22. Very similar to the Ruger but built with better components

I also have the rimfire Leupold 3x9 (again not exactly cheap) which is super nice, but not nearly as handy as the other choices (although still less than most of my center-fire rifles are sporting).
I ended up going with a Leupold 3-9 x40 EFR. Not really a cheap scope by any means, especially since it's going on a rimfire rifle, but I changed direction a bit and went with the "buy once, cry once" approach.

The 457 with this scope, a few extra mags I picked up from Greg Cote and a Montana sling is a really nice set up that will last a lifetime and then some.

It's a really nice scope, I have one on a handi rifle in 17hmr and it's way better than other leupolds in a similar price range. Clarity of glass is really good for the price.

Tempted to pick up that exact combo for my son for when he's old enough to start shooting. That's what I tell myself anyways, it's clearly not just because I want it.
