Are you guys saying that even if I own Hi Cap 10/22 pre-ban mags, which I bought years before the ban, I can't use them in CA?

Hell, I run matches with my Black Dog 25rd'ers in my AR-22 at Rauhaauges all the time. There's almost no one there that only runs 10rd's or less. And those that only have 10rd'ers usually just borrow the hi-caps from other people.
whatever you think, unless you've been to every single gun range in cali then you can't make that assumption.

then i might as well tell my out of state friends to buy me some 30 rounders and send them to me, and i'll start running them at the ranges i goto. maybe even get the drum mag since all the ranges don't care.... will you pay for my legal fees when i get thrown in jail?

Why would you expect to be hassled when possession and use of large-capacity mags isn't even regulated in California, much less actually against the law?

No thanks. I won't pay for your felony. I've actually acquired my hi-caps legally, and use them legally.

The problem with most 10/22 mags is that they are plastic-welded together and can't really be "rebuilt".

If you had mags that could be disassembled, and found new mags that could also be disassembled, then you could pretty easily and legally rebuild your old mags into newer ones. Just don't end up with more than you started with at any point.

My favorite were the Ramline 30's. They were inexpensive and reliable. I'd pick them up for $7-$9 at the Great Western.

Some of the red followers may be the 25 round "Truncator" mags that had a different feed angle for hollow point bullets. Lots of different color followers and bodies were used over the years.

Sticky mags can sometimes be freed up by carefully pressing the follower down inside the mag and letting it up easily and repeating. Don't use harsh chemicals, a little WD-40 is OK. Blow out with compressed air.

Butler Creek mags parts will fit in the Tactical Innovations. You can't disassemble your pre-ban Butler Creeks, however, to "rebuild" your prebans, you'll have to destroy/cannibalize them.

                                1. Put on a pair a safety glasses
                                2. Put on a pair of leather gloves
                                3. Get a nice heavy hammer
                                4. Proceed to smash your pre-bans to bits.
                                5. Remove the follower, lips, spring. Keep the smashed bodies as evidence of the legitimacy of previous ownership of hi cap mags.

Read below or go to the link:

                                7. Can I buy replacement parts, such as springs, feedlips and follower if I ever needed to? (return to top)
Of course! The benefit of having parts that you can replace is being able to replace them. We have springs, followers and stainless steel feed lips available for sale for replacement parts. Even better than that, you know that you'll always have a source for the parts no matter what since we use Butler Creek compatible parts, which could also be obtained by simply smashing them out of a Butler Creek plastic mag if you have any that are no longer functional.
