Does it matter? You're in CA and the mag capacity laws apply to rimfires.

Well, I use the Buttler Creek Steel Lips mags. I am an AZ resident so I can buy them there but I don't bring them here. The Steel Lips are really the only way to go for a long lasting mag. The ones with the plastic lips don't hold up.

the hot lips have held up for me only one has failed me and it was really worn when i bought it used

          but to answer your question

eagle made 30 rounders back in the 90s they were all smoked colored today they come in many colors

ramline made 25's 30 double stack 50 doublestack even 15 and 20 rounders but those are more rare available in a kind of smoked clear and black they had red followers and are notorious for the rear nub breaking off
          today they have yellow followers

mwg aquired the cmf mitchell tear drop drum and made them before and to this day funny the ones ive seen today do not have the belt clip

they are all clear now before the ban they had clear with blue belts and orange keys today i think they have black keys that are less brittle

some defunct companies are condor 25/22 magazines they used metal lips and were black

eaton who made a really neat 50 round circular drum that was a kind of tan clear and the 25/22 magazine that was oem for the amt lightning stainless 10/22 clone i have 2 and they both leave piles of little half moons of shaved lead or just jam up and are not compatable with butler creek parts mine are black on one side clear on the other

there was also one that used the 22 thompson magazines through an adapter that latched into the magazine well via compression it worked pretty good

obviously butlercreek existed they had hotlips and steellips before the ban but the steel lips were at a premium today you can tell the new from the old they have enlarged the butler creek font and added all kinds of patent information
they have always been available in clear smoked and black i have one that is clear on one side and black on the other like the eaton 25/22 they used to come in a vacuplastic on paper card then they come in a ziplock with a card of info now its just a plastic bag full of printed info

Sportsman's Warehouse (Phoenix) has had the Butler Steel Lips when I was in there (Henderson & Vegas too before they went away) for about $30. J&G (Prescott) has them for $30 too. I ordered the last I got from CDNN for $5 less, but they won't ship to CA.

Old 10/22 mags (I think I bought these from J&G back in the late '70s)

I think they were either $29.95 or $39.95-- the teardrop mags were expensive, just like they are now. I've never liked them and bet they've got less than 1000 rounds through them.

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I have some of the buttler creek ones. They work great. A buddy had a ramline and didn't like it. I heard you can us the tactical innovations to rebuild the buttlers, I haven't found anyone who has tried. A guy on her sells them as rebuilds, so they must rebuild something.

To be clear, I am not advocating anything that is against the law in CA.

Anyway, I get most stuff at Cabellas in Glendale, AZ (Near Phoenix).

They always have steel lips in stock plus all the other goodies.

I go there every 2 or 3 weeks.

What on earth are you talking about? I've never once been hassled for using magazines with a capacity greater than 10. Most places don't even notice.

Hell, I run matches with my Black Dog 25rd'ers in my AR-22 at Rauhaauges all the time. There's almost no one there that only runs 10rd's or less. And those that only have 10rd'ers usually just borrow the hi-caps from other people.
