P22 VS Mosquito

Having owned both, and having problems with neither, I can say they are both nice pistols. Neither are perfect in my mind, but still nice for what they are. From what I remember, both came two springs - one for suppressor use and one for regular use. If you use the heavier spring with normal or low velocity ammo you can and most likely will get cycling issues. Other than that, they are pretty well built. The P22 had some issues early on, but as of late the models coming off the lines have gotten decent reviews. If you do happen to get a bad pistol, there are many write ups at RFC on how to fix some of the issues, or you could have it sent back to factory, usually on their dime, to have it fixed. After a while I sold my Mosquito because I needed the money, but it was still a great pistol.
The Mosquito's main draw backs are that the slide is not great steel (I've heard many things so I won't say exactly what it is because I'm not entirely sure) and the finish is VERY rough and matte - almost like very fine wet dry polishing paper. The Slide also doesn't recoil very much so it feels more like an airgun when you shoot it. It's also got a little more bulk to it than it should have, which could be either a good or bad with how you look at it.
The P22 is small, which again can be good or bad. It has interchangable back straps which is a plus, and the slide seems to be a bit better material. It also has some nice little features, like a hardened pin pressed into the softer slide where the bolt catch is so that the bolt catch doesn't wear down the softer slide. Personally, my P22s haven't had a problem with the safety but everyone I've heard says that a stronger spring fixes the problem and I believe it was an AR-15 front sight post spring that did it for most people. The size really is the main drawback to the P22, but I will say this - after shooting it a couple times it now feels like silk in my hand. It's one of those things that just feels unnatural at first, and later it just becomes so nice feeling you wonder why you ever questioned it. That's how the P22 is to me.
The funny thing was I didn't like the P22 so much, but got one for a good deal in a partial trade. Ended up loving it so much I went out and bought my wife one. The P22 gets my vote far and above. And for the guy who said he was getting 10" groups at 25 feet - I think a company would close if they were selling ~115 MOA guns from the factory
ETA: I feed my rimfires ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. The ammo of choice for me is Remington Golden Bullet bulk packs. Neither pistol ever gave me any problems with that ammo and the P22 even eats Federal that my Ruger 10/22 won't eat.quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. - Lucius Annaeus
