Never, EVER buy a Sig Mosquito!!!!!

I'd rather have some straws and 22LR then a Mosquito. I've owned one, tried to break it in with 1500 rounds of all types of ammo. The CCI mini mags and hyper velocities cycled alright (some 6 out of 10 shots) but that to me isnt reliable AT ALL! I fired 550 rds of bulk ammo and 8 of 10 jammed, fte, ftf. All the known problems in to world of guns related to jamming feeding and firing are in a bundle, which comes pre-installed into the mosquito!

I do how-ever would like to say, its a sweet looking gun, but looks dont cut it when you need it to fire. I'd say, save that extra hundred bucks and buy a MKII/III or a buckmark. Their the best 22LR handgun I've ever fired, speaking from owning both of them.

Get the 226 conversion upper. I got one and to tell you the truth, I've shot the 22 more then the 9. Compliments it nicely. Don't have to get a new holster, etc. Or a 10 day wait

Not trying to knock anyone's choice of the Sig or P22, but why not, as one suggested, just buy a Ruger MK II or III.

I am very, very non mechanical and had heard the nightmare stories about the disassembly/assembly of the gun, but I decided to buy it anyway. The guys at Turner's were so scared of it, they all said they wouldn't show me and I bought it there.

Well, by reading the manual and watching a video I found here, I was able to do it with some ease. I just did it again last night. There are only 4 parts to take down. Yes, it is silly that you have to insert an empty mag and point the muzzle up and down a couple of times when reassembling it, but oh well, no biggie. If I can do it, anyone can.

I have the Hunter 6 7/8" fluted SS barrel and it shoots fantastic. I also don't have to buy expensive CCI ammo either as it shoots anything I feed it.

Just wanted to throw that out there for consideration.

I already posted about the bucky. My dad picked his up a day ago, we share it. Haven't shot it yet.

That's pretty impressive accuracy - I wish mine would do that well.

What size 10 round groups do you get at any particular distance and what kind of ammo do you use? I haven't found any ammo that gets less than 2-3" at 10 yards on mine (even match ammo), and can't imagine hitting a tennis ball at 40 yards with any regularity.

Also, what are your SN ranges? Mine's a fairly early one (AF date code - 2005) - maybe they improved the accuracy considerably since then.

the mosquito is picky...if you get one stick with the cci mini mags.....that said most have issues and need to be kept very clean and lubed up to function correctly

Sig Mosquito FTW! Just feed it CCI Mini Mags as everyone has said. Looks like a baby Sig P226. The Walther P22 is sOoo small in the hands. Go with Sig for a fun plinker!

No experience with the Mosquito but I have yet to see a P22 that likes bulk ammo - the kind you (used to) get at Wal-Mart. I don't own one but have friends that do and read countless complaints about the P22 being ammo picky.

Why buy either one of these when a Buckmark, Mark III or U22 NEOS will work reliably.

The only reason in my opinion to get is a P22 is for the factory threaded barrel in other states (not sure what CA does about that) so that suppressors can be attached. And then they are only being used to shoot subsonic ammo.

A lot of FTE but not much FTF. The FTE results in a lot of double feed which is ANNOYING as hell. It works perfectly with CCI stringers though but with the weaker stuff, it's a coin toss. However after a thousand rounds through it, it works really good then with different brands of 22lr.

The one REAL downside to it is that it inaccurate as HELL. At 25 yards I was shooting 12" groupings or something LOL. Not sure if it's the gun or me....but I doubt it's me...not to sound arrogant...but you have to be blind to shoot 12" groupings at 25 yards. I haven't shot the P22 but I have held it and it has a REALLY good grip for those of us with smaller hands. The mosquito, not so much. I would go for the P22...it's a bit cheaper.

I thought they had a recall on the P22 because of the threaded barrel.

They did have a recall on the threaded barrel which Walther replaced free of charge. Mine loves to eat Federal blue & red bulk box with no prob. The only ammo I choose not to use with my P22 is Remington Viper hyper velocity.(The brass ejects directly toward my nose)LOL. Other than that it will eat Anything!!!
