    P22 VS Mosquito

I'm interested in buying, one, trust me I've heard all the stories, but I'm thinking after I feed it around 500 rounds of CCI Mini Mags it will probably preform fine with other brands. My dad just bought a buckmark and we are going to pick it up on the 19th.(Picked it up today) I'll have the chance to be shooting both. It's either the Mosquito or the p22, any advice?

I have the P22 and have shot about 500 rounds through it. I purchased it used from a fellow Calgunner.

The P22 has been steady and reliable with a steady diet of CCI Mini Mags and CCI Stingers. The only issue I have experienced is that the brass has ejected straight back on more than a few occasions. A quick call into Walther America resulted in them sending me an updated extractor. I've since replaced the extractor, but have not yet had time to hit the range to try it out.

Field stripping and cleaning is fairly straight forward. Make sure to lube the rails and watch out for the trigger bar ears possibly gouging into the sides/rails. You will need the supplied reassembly rod to put the P22 back together. Don't lose that rod!

It's fairly accurate, but no one will ever mistake it for a true target-class pistol. Very fun for plinking at the range especially after I'm done practicing with my P99.

How are the groupings at 25 feet?

I REALLY want a sig mosquito to compliment the 226, but reading all the neg reviews its hard to bite.

I have a P22. Put around 1000 rounds or so through it so far. At first I didn't like it at all. The safety kept engaging by itself and had a fw FTE's. I ended up dremeling the detent for the safety lever a little deeper and haven't had a problem with it since. It functions perfectly now, no failures of any kind. Mabe it just needed to be broken in.
In the accuracy department, it su^ks. 10" groups at 25 yards is about all it will do.
                Fun plinker though.

No problems with the P22. My wife has the factory laser on it. Fun gun for plinking.

My Mosquito shoots flawless with cci minimags (over 500 rounds cci) and a few fte with various walmart bulk packs. all together i've probably shot over 1.5k rounds thru it.

I have both .P22 is smaller for small hand.Sig is almost fullsize .Both are very accurate.Sig comes with 2 springs .The long and skinny spring can shoot the bulk pack allday but the other spring have problem with bulk pack .I guessed you have to use hi velocity rounds. Here is pic of both side by side

                        Nice leggs.

How much did you get the Mosquito for. I see them on GB for a little over 300.

My mosquito shoots fine as well. as long as you keep it clean with mini mags then it doesnt have problems. Just only proble is my fingers is fat so Its hard getting my finger on the trigger sometimes . The P22 is a smaller gun but better for a bigger person like me cause the trigger guard is bigger so you can fit you fat finger in there with no problem.

I have both, and it's really a toss-up about which is better. They both have reliability problems, neither is particularly accurate, neither is easy to mount a red dot on (but you can put a laser on either one pretty easily), and both have OK SA and awful DA trigger pulls.

I don't shoot mine much at 25 yards, but I'd expect 6" groups on a good day. Larger ones wouldn't surprise me, but smaller ones sure would.
(ETA - sorry, read that as 25 yards, not 25 feet - my 10 yard groups tend to be 2-3" for both guns)

Both are plastic and zinc, and neither one is likely to survive to be passed on to your grandchildren if you shoot them regularly.

Both have the main benefit that they're better lookers than they are shooters, and they feel good. Kids like them because of the size and light weight, and they often don't care about accuracy.

I'd handle them and buy whichever one feels best and has the best sights for you, but personally, I'd get an accurate .22 first, then go for the plinkers.

ETA: I checked the trigger pull on my P22, and here's how they compare (average of 10 readings):

Mosquito: SA - 5 lb 14 oz, DA - over 12 lbs (limit of my pull gauge)
                            P22: SA - 3 lb 10 oz, DA - 8 lb 13 oz

So, the P22 is the definite winner out of the box in trigger pull. Dunno what they can be easily tweaked to, though.

I really like my Mosquito - I've shot only CCI Stingers thru it since I purchased it (mostly because I can't find anything else on the shelves ) Mine groups alright at 25 feet - certainly not a target grade pistol, but then I never expected it to be.
My only failures have been light firing pin strikes. I plan on sending it off to Gray Guns for the Mosquito Action Package work.
