Browning Buck Mark Contour or Camper?

    Rimfire gang,

Early February of 2019, I had to sell off my Blue Buck Mark Slab Sided Standard URX pistol. I had been without a 22 LR pistol ever since.

Lately however, I am getting the itch for another 22LR firearm. I couldn't decide whether to sink my money into the Camper or the Contour. My main use will be for range fun. This time, I am hoping I will be able to hang onto the pistol for quite sometime. I would like to be able to upgrade a few things but not make the piece a money pit where you would literally splurge the same amount as the cost or more of the initial purchase price of the pistol.

If you are in the market between these two models, which would you likely buy and why??

    Thanks.

    Camper.
    - The only difference between Contour and the rest is the build-in Weaver rail on the Contour for easy to mount the red dot.
    - You can buy the Picatinny rail to mount the red dot https://www.amazon.com/Tactical-Solu...s%2C232&sr=8-1

(Own Countour and Lite, I mounted the Tac. Sol rail on my Lite).

Thank you "newbie1234", the Camper it is then. It is also cheaper and whenever I look for an aftermarket grips, there are more available for the Camper with the UFX grip frame than the URX for the Contour.

There are also differences in the grips. I’ve got the UDX which has beautiful wood grips but honestly the URX grips on the Contour fit me better. I was not a fan of the camper grips.

Grabagun has 'em for $23.49 + shipping
              Midway 26.49 free-ship > $50

              Any other, better option?

Try CDNN. Usually their prices are some of the best, if they have it.

I second that. Campers did not sit well in my hand because the grip frame circumference is larger. The URX had the best fit for me and the UDX a close second. With either of these two, aftermarket grips are not needed, The bigger difference would be to get the longer barrel. Any model that has the 7 1/4" barrel will be easier to aim and shoot than the 5 1/2" barrel.

A red dot is the way to go but I wouldn't use the weaver or picatinny rail. The Outer Impact mount gives the red dot the cleanest and lowest mount to the bore and also eliminates the Picatinny base on the red dot saving a lot of excess weight. I personally favor the Burris FF3 red dot but the mount is compatible with Vortex, Nikon and several more red dots.

Not a fan of finger grooves on the Contour.

Browsing through the Browning website, the California Roster approved Buck Marks are so limited.

The Buck Mark Lite Gray URX with the 7 1/4 inch barrel looks interesting. Just don't know if someone here in Calguns owns one to give a feedback.

I had one, gray, 7 1/4 " barrel. I used to shoot this pistol AFTER I shoot 300-400 rds on SW-41 (7" barrel) or BM Contour, or when I wear-out after two hours at the range (I am a small dude with old age). This BM Lite is very LIGHT compare to SW-41 or Contour.

After I install the Red Dot on the Tac. Sol. Picatinny rail, this BM Lite out shoot SW-41 with iron sight and Contour with Red Dot. Couple hundred rounds inside 2" target labels at 50" (the longest distance on the indoor range) free hands standing is no problem at all.
                        with Vortex Red dot

                        Old pictures.

Camper is pretty much the only Buckmark I don’t like, prefer the UDX grips and slide. I’d get the contour over the camper.

                              Contour.

I like the grips, eats everything, accurate. I wanted the long barrel (7.25), but it wasn’t kommiefornia approved and is now no longer in production. So I got the next longest one.

My only complaint is the stupid kommiefornia mag disconnect. But I think that’s on both guns.

                              Good luck!
                              Sorry, not sorry.
