Looking at possibly getting a 795 for some cheap fun, and wondering when a promotion might come up again.

    Thanks!
I bought one at big5 yesterday for 150.00 + fees.

Looking for 795 magazines and came across this website.

it looks like 10rd nickel magazine for only $13.79 with 329 in stock but
I can't match the product number for this magazine with the one on my owners manual...

    what do you guys think?

    edit: shipping is $7.50 flat

There is a screw for the muzzle end; so just unscrew the old sight, screw on the new.
The rear peep sight slides on the rails and is secured by its base and screw.
    Then, just sight and adjust.
    Easy.

How easy are those sights to install? I have zero gunsmithing experience or tools, but I really want to give those sights a try.

Once again, using a Glenfield Model 70, my Viet Nam era Army D.I. (FT. Polk, LA) bro-in-law who hasn't fired a rifle in 40 years shooting at 100 yards with cheap bulk Federal ammo, kept 150 rounds in an eight inch bullseye.
    He was stoked!

Heh, now the sale price is $150! Still not too bad considering what you get. Its back on sale at Big 5 for this week, too bad the rebate is over.

Finally got to shoot it, what am I doing wrong?

Alright, so I had a great day at SLOSA with the weather turning out nicer than expected.

I set up at the 25yd line, those targets in the pic are at 50 I believe. I started seated and would switch to standing every once in a while. Fired about 250 rounds of Mini Mags, both RN and HP. Did not have one single hiccup for the whole session!

I met some really nice guys there who had some neat toys. A guy next to me had a 10/22 and let me shoot it, which was great as I thought about one of those versus the 795. It was a very nice blued with the wood stock and I may just have to get one of those too! Another guy had a Garand and an M14 that was in really nice shape, as well as a few other rifles. The Garand is anything but quiet when it goes off! I was laughing as I remembered a few scenes in Band of Brothers where there would be someone firing multiple rounds and then suddenly be talking normally to the guy next to him. Its a wonder more of the GIs didn't have hearing problems.

Anyway, the problem I am having is that all of my shots are to the right of the bullseye even as I tried to correct for it. I wonder if I am anticipating or still getting used to the trigger that seems to have "2 stages" because of the initial slack before engagement. I should have let someone else shoot it to see if it was me. I don't think you can adjust the 795s sights for anything other than elevation although it was a bit windy now that I think about it.

You can see where I would switch to standing when the flyers show up.

So any suggestions as to what I can do to correct this? I'm sure its me as the rifle functioned flawlessly and seems reliable as a stone axe. My 7 round mags also worked fine but man reloading new mags is not a fun experience!

You are pretty much correct. In fact that's why the charging handle wobbles, it's the old Marlin 60's way of holding the bolt open (before auto open on last shot), you pull the bolt back and then push the handle in.

So yeah, the Marlin 795 has two bolt hold open latches

    (I have a 795SS that works well)

I got some extra magazines today. only 2 though. am listed for a call-back when another 2 or 3 arrive. tee hee i still don't have the rifle though. ain't picking up until sunday.

unfortunately, badger emailed me back and said they don't make rings for my 795. i'm not sure if someone really, really looked into it since i thougth the 795 was modeled from another marlin model. hmmm... i was expecting a little more from badger from a customer service, unless there is really no compatible badger rings for the 795.
