so whats a decent bipod and how does a bipod actually attach to the stock?

I just started my DROS on a Marlin 795 so I don't have the rifle with me yet, but generally, a bipod attaches to the front sling swivel. That is why you sometimes see rifle stocks with two front sling swivels; one for the bipod and the other for a sling. The 795 only has one front sling swivel so you would have to attach the front of the sling to the actual bipod.

The mount for my bipod attaches to the stud, but has a replacement stud built in. Do most bipods not have that?

Does anyone know if a bull barrel (heavy barrel) can be used on the 795 and where to get one that fits?

I just picked up my 795 on Monday and after taking it home and cleaning and lubing it i took it down to the range. I tried out 2 different types of ammo (Winchester Wildcat and Remington golden bullet) and the Remington seemed to work best. Out of 100 rounds of the Winchester I had at least 1 failure to fire out of each mag and it was extremely dirty. The Remington i went through about 150 rounds and no failures. The Remington also seemed to be a lot more accurate with my rifle, I had 1" grouping at 50 yards with all 10 rounds in the mag. I am very happy with this rifle and its price.

i recently turned 18 and bought a marlin 795, DROS will be over on the 21st and i can pick it up from bass pro on the 22nd. i read a lot of this thread and know to clean/lube my rifle before taking it to the range. however, i dont know what would be good to use to clean it/lube it. like what are some good brands to use etc. also, how much of my gun should i take apart to clean. im a little worried of having trouble putting it back together

In the manual it gives you a cleaning procedure, do this before you fire it.

No worries; you have a lifetime ahead of you to figure it out!
Some folks oil em once and don't worry about it for years; and some, like mine, have to be torn down and cleaned after a few 100 rounds due to the carbon buildup in the little nooks and crannies. Some folks use graphite or teflon type oven heated products instead of oiling the action. Some just rub a pencil on the reciever's guts.

I'm having issues with failures to feed and failures to eject. I've tried adjusting the lips on the magazines and I've tried a couple brands of ammunition. The problem seems intermittent.

When the failure to feed occurs, there is a long scrape along the top of the top round in the magazine. I wonder if the bolt isn't coming back all the way.

Has anyone had issues with theirs or have any ideas what I might want to try?

What type of ammo are you using? Make sure you use High Velocity ammunition. Standard wont feed correctly due to it just doesn't have enough force to push the bolt back all the way.

how does the Remington golden bullet feed with the 795? thinking of picking up several boxes

Thats actually not true... Donno what kind of ammo your using but standard works fine and is recommended for target and plinking more than high velocity ammo..

I've used two brands of high velocity ammunition. Both had the same problems.

I used Winchester wildcat and Fiocci somethin or other. I picked up some Remmington bulk high velocity, brass plated 36 grain and will try that.

I think the wildcat is just really cheap. I have pushed 200 rounds through my 795 without a hiccup, but I broke it in with HV ammo rather than SV.
