Being old school, my long time owned Remington 581 and Glenfield model 25 bolt action magazine fed .22s rifles work just fine for me. They will fire short, long, and long rifle cartridges, and eat any brand that I have fed them.

Now my semi-auto .22LR rifles like being fed CCI mini-mags.

I know it's rimfire, but I don't think 25 yard groups tell you much about a rifle. It's probably a good distance to start if you're zeroing a new scope, but as far as a rifle's performance, I'm not sure.

I zero my CZ 455 22LR at 50 yards and I've had 5 shot groups where it was basically 1 hole, but that unfortunately doesn't mean it's sub-MOA at 100 yards because I actually shoot it at 100 yards and it tends to open up.

I usually zero any new scope at a nearby indoor range at 25 yds. Then, when I'm able to use an outdoor range, I'll zero at either 50 yds (rimfire) or 100 yds (centerfire). Below is a picture of the results at 100 yds from my CZ 455 Trainer with a 3-9x32mm AO scope. It shows 7 shots of Remington Thunderbolt ammo (40 gr, LRN) fired using a CZ single shot adapter. The rifle was fired from a bench with a sandbag supporting the fore end. Wind was left to right (guessing 5 to 7 mph). Target squares are 1" x 1" so the spread is about 1.5 MOA vertically and 2 MOA horizontally. Considering this was done with cheap, bulk ammo, I'm happy with results.

That is pretty impressive for Thunderbolt. IME its super-soft lead marks easily and leads to a very painful transonic transition, but obviously for you it was still more than good enough to put food on the table.

Try it with some Wolf MT sometime. Rimfire at range is great fun.

It's true that Remington TB ammo doesn't exactly have a good reputation which was exactly why I chose it for this little experiment. It certainly gave me confidence in the innate accuracy of the CZ 455 Trainer.

FWIW, I've had dud free performance with about 1,000 rounds TB spread across several rifles in addition to the CZ 455 (60 year old single shot, bolt action Remington Model 514, semi-auto Ruger 10/22 Takedown, and lever action Henry H001). Maybe I've just been lucky but the stuff has worked for me.
