I understand your viewpoint. However, I too owned a cmmg conversion kit, and that thing had was so unreliable (no matter what ammo i used) that it did more harm than good in my training. Granted that was over 5 years ago, so perhaps their quality has gotten significantly better? I've just been put off by conversions in general.

Yeah, I had problems with mine when it was new also. Had to sand the magazines to get them to fit the magwell easily, polished and stoned the sharp edges and rough surfaces in the bolt/carrier, used different ammo, keep it clean (relatively), use a heavier hammer spring trigger...it took some time to get it running 100%, but last time out it didn’t jam a single time on an entire box of federal automatch.

The PSA on the other hand ran like a top right out of the box for my buddy. Really glad because I recommended it to him after he was disappointed in the M&P he had bought.

Forgot to add, wasnt a conversion kit, it’s a dedicated upper.

My PSA deicated upper, at just under $400 ran without a problem. Standard and HV ammo. I love it so much I want to buy another one but can't justify it. Maybe if someone buys my CW9 I will get another.

understand... i'd be interested in trying out a dedicated upper then. If it is as reliable as my 15-22 then i just might have to convert!

Sorry, this has nothing to do with the PSA upper. Though I did
consider the $329 one with the stainless bolt set-up.

Just a plug for dedicated uppers in general.

I’ve probably got about 500 rounds of Blazer & AutoMatch thru my
DPMS Bull Barrel dedicated upper (I think they use Nordic parts or copies). I
can’t think of a single hiccup with it.

With an EoTech XPS on it, it’s really accurate & everyone who’s shot it comes
away with a smile. Funny, just realized the EoTech cost more than the upper.

Some would say it is a nice thing to have an AR-22 handy with a non-neutered lower ready to PLINK.

I second the Sig 522 Classic. We have been very happy with ours. I think we've had it for about 6 years. I got carried away and put a MI front folding sight and Troy rear folding sight on it. And later I added a PA micro-dot. It is very reliable and fun to shoot.

The 522 is a high quality .22LR with an aluminum upper receiver and chrome bolt. It has a quality feel to it and an adjustable folding stock (CA legal on a .22 rimfire).

The controls of the 522 are not the same as an AR, but they are similar and very familiar and easy to use.

We've put probably 4000 rounds through ours and I've been pretty bad about cleaning it. I've wiped down the insides and bolt a couple times, but I've not done a thorough cleaning. Disassembly is easier than a 10/22, but the 522 runs without much fuss. It seems to run on most any HV .22, and it seems to run on good standard velocity, but thrives on HV. I run almost exclusively copper jacketed rounds though my good 22s.

We use the 522 for plinking steel and cans at Lake Shasta. It is really fun for kids and adults alike and is preferred for plinking over the 10/22 take down we have.

sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

These are back down to $299. I own a CMMG dedicated 22LR upper and it is an identical twin to this "PSA." Shoots very well. I will wager dollars to donkey sh*t that this is made by CMMG. They provide many OEM parts to the industry.

Here is the flat top version at $299:
