Ruger 10-22s are very 'Murican and allow a vast amount of user customizations, and I concur that if you are into rimfire firearms, that you need to have at least one 10-22. I really love the Magpul takedown version

But do you realize the Nylon was the first production (1958) polymer (nylon 6-6 aka DuPont Zytel) "framed", "striker fired" (albeit a striker block - not a firing pin/striker) with internal components held in place with cross-pins? They actually have a breech bolt with contained firing pin (and a tiny firing pin return spring) that the striker hits to fire the rim.

Me thinks Gaston may have gotten some ideas from this innovative rifle. Hence the coolness factor for me.

Well I only own 3 10-22's and one Nylon 66. The 66 holds 12 rds and is a snap to reload if you have preloaded one of those multi tube loading devices.
The 66 seems quite accurate at 100 yds with iron sights cuz it shatters clay pigeons. I can do the same with the 10-22's but there is no historical value or emotional value (takes me back to things when I was 9 years old) attached to any of my 10-22s just decent shooters and nice looking. Although I just found the glass on one of my 10-22 reflex sights got shattered some how in the move to ABQ, NM. So will think about another reflex, red dot or small scope haven't decided. It's the one in the pistol grip stock with bipod.

I also enjoy the Nylon 66 due to the history and nostalgia.

Here are three Apache Black versions that round out my collection:



The top one is a 1962 Apache Black with the Chrome receiver and barrel. The next is a 1978 Black Diamond model and the last is a CBC (FIE import) GR-8 model that hit the US in the late 80s (1988). The Brazilian CBC is made with a different polymer than the Zytel and is not as precisely put together as the US Nylons.

Nice! My CBC would choke on just about everything so I sold it along with the 10C.

I have owned and own many of these and don't remember any holding 12 rounds all I think were 14 did you just not remember correctly or some weird variant only holds 12?

Only had a chance at a gallery special once. I had one really beat 76. I have had a couple of 11's. I don't heavily collect these guns so I got rid of duplicates and any non 66's except a 77 in green I recently found. I come across those quite a bit but I was waiting for a real good deal on one.

I have never seen a 10 in person but like maybe once or the smoothbore. I tend to see the model 11 more than the 12 for some reason. I have come across the 76 about 5-6 times in brown.

I can not (admittedly don't own one) but can not see any advantage over the Ruger 10-22.

Lets see...15 rounds vs 10. Tube fed is easier to load. M-66 is 1/2 the weight and the nylon will not dent, ding or swell. And most of all, there isn't one in the back of every closet in America.

And pretty much every 60 yr old man out there has a nostalgia for the 66.....it was a "first gun" for a lot of guys in the 60s.

Hard to love a 10/22. Would be like having a soft spot for a Glock.

Been quite awhile (several years) since I took the 66 out, I just remembered it jamming on a loading of 14 rds but those were hollow points with kind of a flat nose, so I reduced the number loaded to 12 and got a better function, especially changing to round nosed bullets soilds or HPs. Definitely will take it along next range trip to "rediscover" the fun in shooting it!

My 66 always worked perfect with Yellow Jackets, been a long time since I've seen any though.

I also run the Remington 22 Yellow Jackets with no issues in my Nylons. I had last purchased them from Davidsons (Proforce).

The Remington Golden Bullet - High Velocity 22 long rifle plated round nose also work reliably in my Nylons. I get those from Turners.



Just picked up a Spee-D-Loader to try out. Holds 8 by 14 cartridges for easy buttstock magazine tube loading...will try it out and advise.
