    Marlin 60 vs. Ruger

I am debating between a Marlin and a Ruger. This would be a range\plinking, and fun gun. I am interested in hearing pros and cons.

Uh , more do-dads for the ruger if you like that sort of thing ......... I will say I do believe the marlin 60 has a better chance of out shooting the standard 10-22 out of the box ........ but that can be debated I am sure.
Do you want tube or a detachable mag?

In my experience (and I own both) the 10/22 is inherently more reliable.

I, too, own both a Marlin 60 and a couple of 10/22's. I would say that the Marlin is more accurate, but not enough to push it past the 10/22, overall. The 10/22 takes magazines, which is a plus over the tube-fed Marlin. The 10/22 has more after-market parts, and you can trick it out more than you can the Marlin 60. They're both nice rifles, but if I had to grab one and run, it would be one of the 10/22's.

The Marlin is a good rifle and as accurate as a stock Ruger, but the Ruger is easier to load and has a ton of aftermarket options available.

10/22 if you want to f*ck around with it.

My vote is on Marlin 60. Stupid accurate out of box. Out shoots my 10/22's with ease.

if your not gonna upgrade id go marlin 60 all day long. if you plan to do lots of upgrades then 10/22 all day.

You want to spend $250 on a .22 and another $250+ to customize it to your hearts content? You want to accurize it? Ruger. You want to spend $180 and the rest on ammo, because you don't need to accurize it? Marlin.

                    There's also a magazine-fed Marlin 795.

And there's also a Rimfire subforum, you'll probably get more responses there.

I have a marlin 795, which is a magazine feed version of the model 60. After upgrading the DIP trigger/guard and tech sites I'm very happy with the rifle, and I do like the last round bolt hold open. If your considering magazine feed rifles, I'd put it in the running. Take a look at the mega-thread sticky as well.

I have both and I like both for different reasons. You will have TONS more accessories for the 10/22, however I do believe Marlin 60 is more accurate. Older Marlins come with an 18 round tubular magazines which is also nice.
