This has been asked a lot, even by me sometime last year. Try a search, it'll bring up lots of info.

Cheaper and will do the trick = Buckmark or a S&W 22A or S&W Victory

Tried and true, but more $$$ = S&W Model 41

There are thirteen variants of the Browning Buck Mark listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

There are no variants of the Ruger Mark 1, 2, 3, or 22/45 listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

      IMO...
If you want it now, get a Browning Buck Mark.

If you don't mind waiting and have money to burn, get a S&W Model 41 (Olympic pistol exempt) or Beretta Model 87 Target (on the Roster).

This Colt Ace is built on a Essex frame with a Colt Ace slide assy. Hard to read the slide picture but that's the Colt Ace logo. I shot these a lot when I was still on active duty.

The Buckmark is an accurate and customizable gun, and it's available at your dealer. The Mark iii is just as accurate with a whole bunch of aftermarket parts, but must be purchased vis PPT as it is no longer on the CA DOJ approved list. The Model 41 is the only S&W 22lr I would recommend (the best of the lot), that is if you can find one and afford to buy it via PPT.

Problem with the Rugers I don't think they are on the DOJ list so used or somebodies NIB is the only option on them.

I like Rugers, but I've had them for 20 years.

I just picked up a Nelson Custom .22 conversion for my 1911, very nice and it's my 1911 trigger, so it shoots nice.

I also have a colt woodsman, a stripped down huntsman with fixed sights, but it's always been more accurate than I am.

Go onto Gunbroker and get yourself a High Standard Target pistol.

You won't be disappointed. And, you can sell it for what you paid for it.

                    Those are not target pistols.

What "those" are you talking about? The SP22 most certainly is. It was designed for sport and competition shooting. You can swap grips, trigger pull/weight is adjustable, weights for front rail, etc.

Hard question to answer without more details. What model? Vintage or new production?

Some older High Standards are high dollar collectables.

You missed his screen name. Pardini is a true target pistol. Even has an electronic trigger available.

The high standards are both the Olympic models they are older but don't show the age
