    Ruger Single Ten w/Shorter Barrel

Have always liked the Ruger Single Ten concept, but have never been a huge fan of the 5.5" barrel. Was looking for a practice single-action revolver more like the 357's I shoot in Cowboy Action, which have ~4.5" barrels.

Found that Lipsey's had Ruger make some Single Tens with 4 5/8's inch barrels, SKU 8102 (blued) and 8101 (Stainless).

I fell in love with the blued gun, and ordered the last one from KYGUNCO this morning. They were the only place to have them in stock.

If this is interesting to anyone else, KYGUNCO has some of the Stainless models left inventory. They are the only place I found which has any remaining inventory of this Lipsey's exclusive build:

I have an 8102. Bought it at Turner's about a year or so ago. It is an awesome shooter. I originally wanted the stainless version, but all I could find in stainless at the time, was the 5.5" barrel version, so that was a no go. I have come to like the blued version so much, that if I had to do it all over again, I'd be looking for blued.

Awesome - I like it !!! I have a 5.5" Single Six convertible but never shoot 22WMR from it. This ten shot 22LR probably makes more sense...

I really fell in love with the blued version. I was going to grab a pair (one for each holster, you know ), but they only had 2 (or maybe more) left in the Stainless version.

        Saved me some money!

One thing to know for folks who may be looking at these: The blued version comes with an alloy grip frame (folks who have one says that it is well balanced with the shorter barrel), and the stainless version comes with a steel grip frame.

I did not know about the alloy grip frame on the 8102. Thanks for the info! Mine is one of my three "till death do us 'part" guns. I'll keep her forever.

I had a single six with a 4.5 inch barrel and put a BIRDS HEAD grip on it
great gun but just didn't shoot it much
sold it to a guy that wanted it for his young kids so at least it went to a good home

"Bird's Head", for the shape, not "birdseed".

                  The 4 5/8" isn't on the roster.....

How did you order it for CA? Are you LEO?

I feel the same way and much refer the shorter barrel.

                    Single action, so roster exempt.

I kinda thought that.... but..... why does the roster list the Single Ten in 5.5" SS and none of the others?

So,,, are all of the single action Blackhawks still allowed to be sold in CA by FFL's too?

I just spent a few minutes looking.

I thought the single action exemption went away with the single shot exemption. I'm not much of a revolver guy in general but I like a few of the Ruger single actions.

Well... heck... that changes things a little.

Why doesn't Ruger make this more apparent on their site?

Before Ruger changed their website, they had a page up stating basically that ALL Ruger single action revolvers were compliant with the CA laws and thus available for sale.

Unfortunately I cannot find that page now. Sorry. I really do not like their new site.

so buy away. You can even get the bearcat shopkeeper if you want, it's a tiny thing.
