My pins arrived today. Hopefully I can get some time to swap them out tomorrow. The conversion kits should arrive Wednesday. Waiting for my FFL to call me to pick up the second one. He's got one on his shelf with the telescoping stock for $320. I may have to have one of those too. . Depends on how much cash I have left after paying bills. It would be worth Mac & Cheese for a month, since I'm running solo while my wife is on a trip with her sister for 3 weeks. She'd never even notice another one.

Anyone with any experience with this scope? Thinking about one for my grandson's rifle.

for that price range, i'd opt for either a primary arms or bushnell option. maybe a few bucks more, but very much vetted on the forums for durability.

my 2cents, worth what you paid for it

No experience on that one. A few more bucks gets you a trs25 on amazon though. Keeps the gun lightweight!

Tinkered with the conversion kit today. Got the front sight and cocking handle swapped out ok, but how do you get the trigger assembly out of the pistol grip?

There was a pretty good video on YouTube that helped me to figure things out. Switched out hand guards on my grandson's rifle. He likes the larger SD hand guard. I left the smaller one on mine.

I'm having serious withdrawls from not shooting on mine! Too many projects at the same time!!! Hopefully I'll get back on track by this weekend and some parts will come in the mail.

Short on funds for a few weeks. I got the wife an m&p shield for our six year anniversary (fyi, we went to the range with our wedding party being our wedding). Yeah.... I'm lucky.

Great gift with the Shield. My wife has arthritis in her hands and has difficulty racking a slide on most of my pistols. I recently got her a Smith & Wesson Model 67 for her personal HD gun. Stainless K Frame in .38 Special.

I have the same Walther Arms H&K MP5 SD and it also has that same mark inside. I have no problems with it. I ordered the NC STAR MP5 optics rail but it doesn't fit. I had to order the rail from HKparts.net and also added the red dot sight. I love it, very fun to shoot.

Congrats! Welcome to the mp5 addiction. I had a very scary moment today staring at a legit MP5 9mm at my lgs. Almost dropped some serious cash. But then I remembered that I like my wife.

But as far as internals go, I'd say it's just about as robust as the HK, it's the metal reciever on the HK that gives it quality feel. It's also good to remember that the gsg522 is the LW model, or Light Weight version, which is plastic reciever. The non LW models are metal. I don't know the exact weight difference but it's significant (maybe 1.5lbs!).

Now the conversion kit simply returns the gsg522 back to its original form (pre hk lawsuit), when it was known as the gsg-5.
The kit contains the front sight and cocking tube, charging handle, safety selector, and pistol grip housing, all things that were changed because they too closely resembled the actual mp5. Unfortunately, these changes really bring down the value of the gsg522 because I view gsg5 parts as necessity. So if you plan on going the gsg522 route, budget in another $50 for the conversion kit and hk rear sight. If you can find a good condition used gsg5, I really think this would be the best route to go as you wouldnt pay new gun prices or have to convert the gun. Prices for parts for the gsg are about 70% cheaper as well!

With all that said, the HK is badass. Sights and accuracy are top notch, runs like a top, no tools needed to break it down (all push pins, again something the gsg does not have), and best of all, I got mine for $422, about $480 with tax and dros!
I finally got an A5 for myself. I bought a cheap UTG rail on Amazon and the piece of crap didn't fit. I returned it and bought another cheap one and its awesome. It's the MetalTac. It was $20. Can't go wrong. I just need to decide on an optic. I currently have a sightmark on it but I might change it out. I am yet to fire it.
