      I love GPs but they are over-engineered (not uncommon with Ruger, a "belt and suspenders kinda guy) so that the most "enthusiastic" handloader can't wear them out. A .22 just doesn't need that.

      Having used a GP-100 .357 6" for many years as a deer and pig "rifle" back East, I wouldn't want to carry a GP .22 for a bunny safari. You'll NEED a belt and suspenders!

        I got an email from Ruger saying they have submitted the GP100 .22lr for test to get it on the CA DOJ roster.

          Msrp is $100 more than the stardard models. Gp's advantage was its less expensive than s&w

                            I agree wholeheartedly with member donw. Wheelguns are great creations, certain ones even more so. The GP frame is a true classic, the SP is a bit more utilitarian. Both will get the job done however GP's (like K frames) evoke emotion. I think my Model 17-6 (4" barrel with partial underlug) will need a stable mate...
