Primary Arms has a ton of options in that price range, and pretty much everyone that has one loves it. They also supposedly have great customer service and replace anything that breaks no questions asked.
I just got my PA Micro RDS in the mail, it seems very well built and the dot is very crisp and defined. I haven't tested it on my carbine yet, but if you look on YouTube there's a video of some guys with a PA RDS on an AK that they drag behind a truck on a gravel road, drop from a tree, try to blow up, and generally beat the hell out of, and amazingly it holds zero throughout the test.Comment

It seems like you're getting some different suggestions, with some optics having magnification and some not.
If you want to shoot out to 300 yards with any degree of accuracy, you really need some magnification. If you also want to shoot at short range, then you need variable power. If that's the case, I can't think of any variable power scopes in that price range that have a "tactical" style.
If 1X magnification is all you need, then the TRS-25 is a good deal at $92.70. http://www.lensandlasers.com/ar-trs-...ot-hi-rise-mnt That's a traditional style red dot sight, and will give you the "tube" effect that some people don't like.

The Bushnell Trophy models are designed to be the "poor man's ACOG", and I think the quality is reflected in the price.
If you need magnification, and variable power would suit you best, have you considered a traditional scope? I don't think you've said what rifle you're looking to put the optic on.Comment

Another vote for primary arms. I have their microdot on a cheap QD mount that came as a package deal a while back. It has been through carbine courses and range duty and it is awesome. I paid less than 70 bucks at the time and would do it again without even thinking twice. It has been on multiple rifles and will still hold zero after taking it off and putting it back on. It really cannot be beat.Now we know!Comment

Barska? Mostly garbage. Depends on the model, I guess. I put that in the "Cheap Chinese" category, rather than the "Budget Chinese" category. The budget stuff performs fairly well, the cheap stuff....well, it's cheap....Comment
